Gamespot has posted a head-to-head analysis of the DS vs. the PSP. They take the lame way out and say both systems are good and neither is the winner. From the article: "If you're after innovative games that you can't find anywhere else, the DS would suit you well, not to mention save you a bundle of cash. The PSP has raw graphical power in the form of a beautiful screen and a powerhouse of a processor, but it comes at twice the cost of a Nintendo DS."
Gamespot is a game site, and even they admit that the DS is a better gaming handheld. With all due respect to the PSP, shouldn't the DS be the obvious winner for gamers? Our subjective opinion is an emphatic "YES."

You're absolutely right.
A tech site could get away with saying both are technically impressive in different ways but a games site like Gamespot should really be recommending the DS over the PSP. While I can't claim the usual "I had a PSP but sold it", I was planning on getting one. The price initially made me wait, but it's been out long enough to show that the focus isn't really on the games. UMD movies are coming out by the truckload and yet there's still not many games I really want to play. The PSP has quite a few games that are good enough to buy if you already have a PSP, but nothing (in my opinion) good enough to make me buy a PSP in the first place.
With so many must-play games coming out for the DS, it's really a no-brainer.

Got both. The DS beats the PSP in every category.... Cost. Games. Battery life. Fun factor. The PSP has more power and useless functions - but what good are they if you never use them? The DS has tons of fun, original and innovative games.....

I really. Really. Really, really, really, want Tokobot. Really. It is almost enough reason to spring for a PSP, and combined with the two new Mega Man games, I've almost gotten one. However, the DS still has more stuff and that's what I'm sticking with.
Totally off-topic, how'd Cyberfelon get two stars just after one comment? How's that work, anyway? I still haven't figured it out.

typrical of a big news site hm? spineless... the truth is the PSP has been a huge disappointment even though it APPEARS to have a huge selection of games.
Bottom line: a better proportion of INTERESTING COMPELING games on the DS.
Most PSP games are already on PS2 in better form.. which doesn't work because most PSP owners already have PS2.
In other words, the systems are too similar, so there's a cannibalizing effect.
Nintendo is wise to keep the portable lines technically lagged (eg. 1 generation behind).. it keeps costs down, price down across the board and avoid cannibalization.

"The Nintendo DS has a foldable clamshell design and features two separate LCD screens (hence the DS--dual screen--name"
GAH! I hate when people call it Nintendo "Dual Screen", it's the Nintendo Developers System. You'd think that Gamespot could at least get that right, nevermind the whole 'The PSP and DS are just as good' crap.
