The Festivus season was tough on several consoles this year. The Xbox 360 was nearly impossible to find in Europe and the Americas while the Nintendo DS reached peak demand in Japan. How each company reacted to the shortage is a story in its own right.
While we're pretty sure that Microsoft didn't actually kick any puppies, they arguably flamed the shortage fire with their constant and sometimes conflicting information regarding weekly shipments. Nintendo, in contrast, offered a simple apology. Last week we reported on the apology and this week we bring you some additional words direct from Nintendo:
"During the year-end period, there was a shortage of our company's portable gaming system, the Nintendo DS, due to a flood of demand which far exceeded our expectations. We greatly apologise for inconveniencing all of our customers and retailers."
Like cheese, sometimes a little extra "class" makes everything better.
