Though they weren't due until next month, an avid Flickr user has discovered that the Nintendo DS download stations are already operational in the Nintendo World Store in New York City. After enterting the store and hitting "Download Play" in the DS' main menu, she grabbed a trial version of Brain Age, strangely ignoring the presence of Tetris DS.It shouldn't be too long now before the download stations roll out to the rest of the US and bathe countless gamers in free software, videos and deadly Wi-Fi radiation. If you see these glorious structures appearing in your area, let us know!

Just in case some people may not realize they were kidding, Wi-Fi is not harmful...And Tetris sucks. I'd take Brain Age over it any day.

brain age seems like a great game, but i wouldnt say tetris sucks... sure it's not as innovative as brain age, but playing wifi against people will bring back some old school gameboy competitiveness in us all.. and the 6 modes seem very interesting. ill be buying tetris and metroid on the 21st.

I may not even eat today if I can try Brain Games & Tetris for free. This is a hell of allot better than the cheap swag they're usually giving away at NWS.
This is the kind of thing I was expecting from nintendo when I first heard the DS was going to have wifi. I hope that we'll be able to regularly preview upcoming games here but I can't help but wonder about all of those DSers who don't live in NYC. I dig the Nintendo World Store but it seems like they need to have more than one in the country if they're going to do exclusive deals like this.
They should also have the previews available at EB or wherever they had those free nintendog virtual swag giveaways. What would be best is if you could preview directly from anywhere in the wifi network.

push2flush, I'm not saying that Tetris DS specifically sucks, but rather I'm saying that the entire Tetris "series" sucks. Ever since the original Game Boy game, I have never enjoyed playing Tetris. It's simply boring.
That being said, Tetris DS seems to be the "best" Tetris ever released, but that doesn't change anything for me, and just to add to it, I don't like Metroid Prime, either, or really any of the Metroid games, for that matter.

The only thing that makes me sad about the rollout of the download stations is that, like in the case of most mainstream endeavours, small independent stores get lost in the shuffle. I would love for all of the guys who come into the store I work at to be able to enjoy this, but I'm worried that it won't happen.
The only hope for us small stores might be to hack up our own Download & Play station (which has been done after E3 2005 for the E3 demos!)

I tried it out yesterday and it's pretty awesome. I was hoping for some more tetris modes available, but all they give you is standard mode against the computer. It's on level 3 and it's more challenging than I expected. I am so torn over whether to get this or Metroid in March - I may have to sell some older games I don't play no more. I'm looking at you, Yoshis Touch and Go, Nanostray, and Need for Speed :)
