Nacho Libre is all about the DS apparently

Jack Black, best known for his comedic and musical stylings as part of the duo Tenacious D, is currently filming his upcoming movie Nacho Libre in which he stars as, well...Nacho Libre, a priest who dons the luchadore mask in order to save an orphanage. Recently, a teaser trailer was released for the upcoming behind-the-scenes video diaries of said film, filmed by Jack Black, for Jack Black, which if the trailer is to be believed, will mostly be about Jack Black wearing ridiculous outfits and getting his chest waxed.

In the teaser trailer, we see a glimpse of Jack lounging in what appears to be the character's priest costume, holding a DS. Now it's no new thing for celebrities to be lavished with free hardware from the companies, but this time around it appears that Jack procured the DS himself and brought it along for the long months of rigorous film-making he no doubt has to endure. Besides, even if he was given the DS free from Nintendo, wouldn't he instead have been given a DS Lite?

Upcoming installments of Jack Black's behind the scenes diaries will be twice a week starting March 15th available through iTunes. Here's to hoping Jack throws down in some Mario Kart and provides a friend code in an upcoming installment. Slamming Wonderboy with a red shell? Sign us up!

2. "Besides, even if he was given the DS free from Nintendo, wouldn't he instead have been given a DS Lite?"

Nacho Libre was filmed pre-DS lite, so no.

4. He didn't give a friend code. That's why they said maybe next time.

5. Why would a commercial for something on the apple quicktime and iTunes site be in windows media format?

6. He is "Young Nasty Man," arch-rival and nemesis of Wonderboy. Get it right.

7. When the author of the article teasingly talked about providing a friend code in Mario Kart that got me to thinking. For celebrities that are big into gaming, it would be kind of nice if they would provide screen names to their fans. This would be a nice way for them to give a little back to their fans. I understand why allot of Celebrities do not want to meet with fans personally because there are a whole lot of crazy people out there. But this would be a great way to get to mix it up with some fans and maybe show a little gratitude for us supporting their live styles.

I saw on a game show on TV that Snoop Dogg is making a public gamer tag. I really hope that others follow along.

This also makes me wonder how many celebrities actually go online to play video games as a way to mingle with every day people without revealing their true identiy. There is no paparazzi, and they get treated just like everyone else online.

8. He actually DOES play the DS. My brother and sister-in-law were in Oaxaca, Mexico last year when it was being filmed, and they unintentionally stumbled upon the set, and met him. Between takes, he apparently took out his DS and played it. They posted a story about it on their blog, actually.

Full story here, and 4cr reference here. Pretty great read, actually. But yeah, point is, he actually does own a DS, and it wouldn't surprise me if he actually bought it himself and loves it, considering he played it between takes.

9. Crap. Anchor tags. Sorry about the double post.

Anyway, http://tinyurl.com/p9xu8 is the 4cr post about it, and http://tinyurl.com/rdyuy is the original blog post made last year.

So he's had it since at least last November, and was playing it on the set.

10. Kyle was Wonderboy and Jack was Young Nasty Man, with powers comparable to Wonder Boy!
What powers you ask? How bout the power of flight. That do anything for ya? That's levitation holmes. Or how about the power to kill a yak at 200 yards away....

WITH MIND BULLETS!!!

How bout the power...... To move you...

11. I'm pretty sure KG (Kyle Gass) is Young Nasty Man. I'd go into specifics, but that would degenerate into geekery that I don't care to make public.

12. Sigh...I didn't want to do this...

"Take *my* hand, Young Nasty Man, and we'll fly!"

Since Jack is asking Young Nasty Man to take his hand, he cannot be Young Nasty Man.

Unless there's an actual story to this somewhere, the song says that Jack is Wonderboy.

13. JD was young nasty man, as per the Conan episode where they played.

14. Well then they need to get their lyrics straight.

My guess? They don't care because it's just a song.

Whatever it is, Conan is awesome and I will drop this now.
