After snooping around the ongoing Game Developer's Conference, the guys at DS Advanced have reported that Satoru Iwata's keynote tomorrow is likely to lay out Nintendo's plans for the American DS Lite launch. If their information is to be trusted, Mr. Iwata will be announcing both a firm release date and a price for that most desirable of handheld redesigns. The question of whether or not this turns out to be true should be answered in less than 24 hours from now.Of course, we can't let this one slip by without tossing in some of our own pompous and potentially embarrassing predictions:
- The original DS will be reduced in price to an attractive $99.
- The DS Lite will launch in June at the equally attractive price of $149.99.
- A classy black DS Lite will replace the Arctic Blue model in the US (because that one simply isn't attractive enough).
- New Super Mario Bros. will be bundled with either the Phat or the Lite in order to attract more buyers.

Alright, now you're just toying with my emotions if you expect a Black DS Lite bundled with New Super Mario Bros. for the US launch. I would jizz in my pants if Nintendo announces ALL of that tomorrow!

I'd settle for something like: "Oh and we discovered a huge box of enamel-navies sitting forgotten in the corner of the factory and promptly sent them to online import/export stores like lik-sang and play-asia, so all you US import fanboys who were supposed to have received your DS Lites by now will be getting them in a day or two." Because I don't know what I'll do if a late May/early June release date is announced.... To hold out until April or whenever, or cancel and save $50 by waiting a month?

I'd definitely wait for a black Lite. Of course, I'm not importing, so I'll be waiting no matter what.
I don't even know why I'm so excited by this. I already own the damned thing, it's just bigger. But for some reason I have a feverish desire to obtain one the DS Lite.
So come on Iwata-sama, let's see some announcements! And let's move that June release to May, shall we?

Well, I do hope you guys are right. I can see many people who didn't intend on upgrading deciding to buy the black simply for the color.

I have to disagree with the second part of your theory. The arctic blue DS Lite is the sexiest one on the market in my opinion. Similarly, if a person like me (I'm a 15 year old teenager) admires such colors, I imagine more people will have interest in it. That's to say, I don't think that blue one is going anywhere anytime soon.
