After a few years of solid playing, we finally managed to collect all the Shines in Super Mario Sunshine. Upon doing so, the Japanese sales chart for the week ranging from 13 March to 19 March was spectacularly displayed on the screen amidst an explosion of flashing pixels and poorly animated Toad sprites. We didn't feel a bunch of numbers was an adequate reward for surviving all those precarious platforms, but we thought we'd share them just the same. The ranking, according to number of units sold, is a follows:- DS Lite: 104,452
- Final Fantasy XII Machine: 66,670
- Phat DS: 32,105
- PSP: 31,848
- GBA SP: 4,290
- GB Micro: 3,087
- Gamecube: 1,318
- Xbox 360: 1,039
- GBA: 131
- Xbox: 108

wtf is final fantasy XII machine, oh and DS IMO is really kicking ass and is showing that Nintendo has no troubles controlling the handheld market, especially with games, what first party games does the PSP hold? compare to mariokart DS, and the many others available? I really think they are doing a good job, I sold my psp to preorder my DS lite :D

Why can't we ever get USA sales charts. We know the DS is destroying the PSP in Japan, but what about in Sweet Lady Freedomtown? And Europe? I feel so uninformed...

Not sure if anyone cares, but we've got something else to make the wait for a DS Lite unbearable on top of the fact that they're completely gone in Japan. Here's some DSvs Lite and SP shots over on CAG. Feel free to use the images as long as credit is give to the source. http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1783395&postcount=96
This system is amazing... only had it for about 10 hours but already I can't imagine playing the Original DS for very long.

Ars Technica.com has an article about a 4GB Microdrive for the DS on their website. I am so excited about this. Apparently, there is a software included with the microdrive where you can convert movies and music to be playable on the DS. Here is the link to arstechnica.

Information from the site is brief and short. I would love to here more about it.

It was talked about last month and it says it going to come out late March and isn't it about time... Anyways, Lik-sang has on pre-sale for like $180 bucks, but there are other ways of playing movies and music on your DS for cheaper. (M3)

They don't show the sales numbers in the U.S. because they're not quite as flattering to the DS. I think sales of the DS and the PSP in the U.S. are very close.

Not true. The reason you "think" DS and PSP sales are close in the US is because that's the best you can do - US sales numbers are simply not as thoroughly tracked and published as Japanese sales numbers are.

My ice blue DS lite is waiting for me at home today. I ordered the first day play asia listed the blue DS lites and they've been champions about it. They didn't push the price up and they've sent everyone who pre ordered either a free GBA/DS game or some accesories. Even if they're crap, that's a lot better than what some online retailers have been doing. They're going to be my importers of choice from here on.
