When we opened our mailbox today, one of our wonderful readers laid a nice little tip inside that told us to let you know that the DS Rumble Pak is available for your importing pleasure and is compatible with games such as Metroid Prime Hunters and Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. The cart slides into the GBA port on your DS, Lite or Phat, and has a price tag of $24.95 US. The tip also stated that if we didn't cooperate, there would be consequences.[Thanks Craig!]
[Update: a more thrifty reader by the name of Cosmos comments that it may be obtained direct from Nintendo for $9.95 US.]

Yep I got one of these with Metroid Pinball. I can't imagine Hunters without it!
I have to admit the M&L:PIT was a bit weak with it's use of the rumble pak but Metroid Hunters and Pinball make excellent use of it. Lets hope we see more games with Rumble compatibility!

$24.95? I ordered mine online from the Nintendo store (http://store.nintendo.com) for $9.99.
Anyways, it's a must-own for any Hunters player. Unfortunately, it is noticably loud, which means I have to pull it out when I play my DS in school (at least when the class is quiet).

But presumably it would stick out a couple of mm's on a ds lite. Any plans on making a lite rumble pack?

How long does the pack last for? Are the batteries replaceable?

Heh :P
As far as I know, the rumble pak can *only* be obtained by ordering it online, unless of course you buy Metroid Prime Pinball, and in that case you get it for free.

I guess I'll be the minor voice of dissent this morning -- I got the RumblePak with my copy of MP:Pinball last fall. I think the Pak was used QUITE effectively (and often) in MP:Pinball, giving a much needed tactile dimension to a purely digital pinball experience. As a rule, digital pinball games bore me, but I took a chance on MP:Pinball and have LOVED it from day one. The game has engaged me again and again, and part of what draws me back is the RumblePak experience. If you don't have the Pak and are even slightly interested in what it can do, buying MP:Pinball is the way to go.
Having said that, the implementation of the RumblePak in MP:Hunters has left me underwhelmed. I guess I expected more interesting use of the Pak *throughout* the game, besides adding background noise to video transitions and to the engines on Samus's gunship. I am in no way dissing MP:Hunters, though -- arguably the best DS game I've purchased in 1.5 years of DS ownership. (Had NO idea you could use the Pak with PIT and Super Princess Peach; might have to rent them to try.)
In the end, I like the RumblePak, and especially like that I got it "free" as a pak-in (ha, ha) with MP:Pinball. I would be slightly disappointed if I paid $10 for the Pak alone, given the minimal value-add to existing games (with the exception of MP:Pinball). I would be both disappointed AND ticked off if I was duped into paying $25 for the product -- that is just WAAAYY to pay for what the Pak offers.

$25?
At that price, might as well get Metroid Pinball and get a game with the pack.
