Some shots for the anticipated Opera browser that is slated to hit a DS near you soon have hit the net, and although there are only 3 of them, we likes what we sees. It appears the browser will be utilized to its maximum potential through the touch screen for both inputting text and zooming in on pages, which is not new news, but seeing it in the flesh makes it a much more appealing prospect. Personally, I'm a Firefox user, but I can see myself giving this a go.
What say you fine readers?

Still no release date, other than the "sometime in June" they've been saying for several months. And that's only in Japan; no U.S. release is planned yet.

I'd much rather see a firefox port myself, but oh well. Can't much see myself having a use for this unless I lived somewhere like philly with free wifi.

I gather the Opera people have put a fair bit of effort into the portable versions of their browser, and it's used in a number of phones and PDAs and such already. The choice seems sensible enough with this in mind.

I'm miffed that it *still* won't help for using Nintendo WiFi at hotspots that have a captive portal :(
I'm glad Nintendo WiFi is so easy to use, but it's difficult to find access points (at least in the medium-sized city where I live) that don't make you accept some terms of service or something.
A step in the right direction though.

I too was hoping for a firefox browser but this doesn't look bad.
Of course it will be more usefull in Europe where most places have public wifi access over many broad areas.
It's funny because every time I'm in McDonalds, I feel the need to surf the web.
Despite my sarcasm, I'm looking forward to the us launch of opera. Or are we expected to import it?

Opera is pretty damn awesome, I think people need to give it a chance. I've been using it for the past few weeks, and it's definitely snappy and quite nice to use. It has some cool features as well.

I ditched Firefox for Opera about 6 months ago, and haven't looked back since. I suppose it's suitable for a platform like the DS becuase it's easily scalable (will help for viewing large pages on small screen) and also not very demanding on the system.
Good call Nintendo, I say.

This is going to be a fantastic addition to the DS library.
While Firefox is a nice browser, I have found that nothing beats Opera when it comes to the overall browsing experience. It is so intuitive and very user friendly.
With the announcement that Wii will also have the Opera Web Broswer, it seems Nintendo and Opera have formed a great partnership that will hopefully merge two dedicated fanbases while drawing in many new users based on the hardware and software ease of use and low learning curves that each require to enjoy.
This is great for both companies, and especially for the users.
