Sickened by enormous GBA cartridges protruding awkwardly from their precious DS Lites, the folks over at Nintendo of Japan have seen fit to release a teeny tiny version of the Rumble Pak, that wondrous device that shakes about in your DS in unison with the blasts of Samus' arsenal. The new Lite Rumble Pak is made to suit the stylings of the newer system very closely, fitting snugly into the GBA slot for some discreet vibrating action in-between train stations. A US release shouldn't be too far behind the Lite launch.

A Nintendo product never sounded so dirty....
Good to hear the news, though. Since Nintendo didn't have the foresight to see how annoying that protrusion would be, I'm at least glad to see them acknowledging and amending their mistake.

This sucks for people who are getting a Lite and already had the DS rumble pack. I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't pick one up, so I'll just get this one.
Prices?

It's priced the same as the regular rumble pak, in Japan anyway. I expect the same will be true elsewhere.

I have heard differing reports on the actuall "greatness" of the original rumble pack. If this one is half the size, it doesn't exactly fill me with hope.

Totally off topic. I just wanted to let everyone know that my local game shop is already selling the new DSlite, by the way im Australian. I've already picked mine up and had a play, this baby is dead sexy and the screen makes ur games look so much more colorful and vibrant. Definetly worth getting even if u have the PHATT one.....just thought id rub it in... :P

Hmm. I'm yet to hear of a store here in Australia breaking the street date, so i'm a little sceptical of #3. Retailers have stock, but i still haven't heard of anyone selling them over the counter.
Anyway, it's out Thursday over here, including a brain training demo.

I'm not even sure if the rumble pak was a standalone purchase option in Australia anyway - it was packed in Metroid Pinball, but i haven't seen it standalone anywhere. Fingers crossed the rumble for the Lite isn't as noisy as the phat rumble. The noise is a bit annoying...

You apparently never the read manual that described the rumble pack. The noise is the rumble pack's main purpose.
Sheesh! Read your game manuals for crying out loud.
