DS Lite street date disregarded [Update 1]

Seems some brick and mortar retailers are violating the DS Lite street date. The pictured unit was picked up by CAG moderator Trakan at his local Target, which he claims had a large display case full of the sleek dual screens. I'll be trekking out into the world shortly to check my local Walmart, Target, and Best Buy, which are luckily all right next to each other on the same street. I'll update later with my findings, but in the mean time, any of you fine readers manage to get a street-date-violated DS Lite?

[Update: If you locate a DS Lite, be sure to add the offending store to this Flickr Frappr map. Thanks Jake!]

2. My Target has them in the case but will not sell until June 11th.

3. I still can't decide if I wanna pick up a white one or wait for the black one (if it ever comes out in the US).

4. Just picked one up from my local target in Durham, NC. Man this thing is sweet!

6. I just called my local Target and they said very clearly, "The DS will be out on June 11th". I'm in the Washington, DC area in Northern Virginia. Boo for me.

7. I just got mine at Target in Arlington Heights IL. They had about 15 in the case.

8. My local Walmart has them on display in their store but they refuse to sell any until 6-11.

Nintendo will could lose some sales for people who haven't decided which portable to buy yet. Makes no sense to have the systems sitting on the sales floor for the better part of 2 weeks.

9. I think you mean a FRAPPR map, not a FLICKR map...

And I haven't seen any yet... but I've only checked one Target so far (and they had NO DS models at all!)

10. Does anyone know if they're selling in New York yet?

I'd drive out there but i don't have a car, and i'm too lazy to walk.

11. Try the Target in Towson, MD on Goucher...they may have a couple left.

14. So the one time Australia gets smething before America, it still gets sold in America first!

You guys are so lucky! Still, I get mine today, so no biggie!

16. On display in the case with a price tag in Wal-Mart in Camden, DE. Rang up as "sale not allowed." Called manager to explain and was dealt with very rudely (even though I was very nice and not demanding in the least). Left the department empty-handed and went straight to the store manager on duty. Filed a written complaint against the rude department manager. That made me feel better, but I still didn't get a DS Lite :(

17. Just got back from Target in Tuscaloosa, Al with my new Lite in hand. No problem at all. The electronics guy sold it to me right then and there. Woosh! Of course, I had to go by my place of work (Toys R Us) to show it off. mwhahaha

18. Haha, I'm sorry some of you are having issues, it was funny going to EB after buying it using my DS lite reserve credit to buy new mario bros. The guy asked if I gave up and I told him about it, he replied "well I know where I'm going for my break."

19. Well, picked mine up today, 1st of June. If I were petty then I'd probably be mad that they started selling them in the States before the official date, but it's no biggie, have fun when you get one I guess!

Over here in Aus, the Lite came with a demo for Brain Training, and if you buy from K-Mart then you get a carry case. I got mine from EB and got no case, but they gave me 5 plastic cart cases for pre-ordering.

Is the demo pack in happening in the US also?

So far, I'm liking it... though I have to get used to the size and different feel of the buttons, they're nice, but drifting and powerdrifting feels a bit harder to do in Mario Kart.

And dude. The screens are bright as! I switched it on and it was bright, then I found out there was an even brighter setting!

The yellows kind of look a bit weird... like, the little ! triangle when you first boot up, it seems a bit more orange on the Phat. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Sears
5601 Santa Monica Blvd (West of Western), Los Angeles, CA

I ordered mine online, got a confirmaton in 10 minutes, went there and picked up mine in 2 and a half minutes :-) The ppl there are really polite too :-)

If u order online like me, make sure u don;t waste time going into the store. Just go to the Merchandise Pickup, which is in the back next to Watch Repair :-)
