Trauma Center supply resuscitated

Addictive cut-and-preserve hospital sim news now, with Atlus announcing that they'll be sending out enormous crates filled with copies of Trauma Center: Under the Knife to stores everywhere at the end of July. This should come as most excellent news to those who have experienced difficulty in getting their gloved hands on one of the best DS titles available, as well as to those who simply enjoy slashing a stranger's spleen into tiny, unrecognizable pieces.

Jim Ireton, the VP of Sales and Marketing for Atlus USA, notes that the "continued demand for Trauma Center: Under the Knife is both gratifying and overwhelming. We apologize to Nintendo fans who've had a tough time finding the game, and we hope this scratches their surgical itch until we ship Trauma Center: Second Opinion for the Wii later this year." Apology accepted, Mr. Ireton.

Rejected titles for this post:
  • "Trauma Center stock receives transfusion"
  • "Atlus bypasses Trauma Center shortage"
  • "Anemic Trauma Center supply cured"
  • "More copies of Trauma Center discharged"
  • "Trauma Center is a really good game"
[Thanks to everyone that sent this in!]

1. "Trauma Center stock receives transfusion"

I woulda laughed at this one.

I still haven't gotten this game, is it really that good?

2. Thank christ. I was worrying I got a DS way too late. I still have trouble finding any of the new Pheonix Wright shipments. :(

They were selling them yesterday at capcom's online store, but it appears they have already sold out. With that kind of demand I'm guessing they'll be shipping a ton more as soon as possible. I ordered my copy, so I should be able to play it next week sometime. And I just found a used copy of Trama Center last weekend.

4. Next Phoenix Wright shipment to stores is in mid-August. Also last time I checked you can buy Tramua Center from Atlus's website as well as Bestbuy.com

5. @1 Yes. Yes it absolutely is.

However, it's learning curve is pretty damn high, as well as it's difficulty. It's really for a specific kind of audience, but I certainly thought of it as one of the first reasons that DS kicked ass at creating new kinds of video games I never thought I'd ever like to play.

6. What's with all these being sold out in the US, theres literaly about 5-10 copies per store here in the UK?

I think i might just buy it, seems there is quite a bit of interest in it!

7. Thats the downside of platforms that still require games to be on mask ROM chips. For a very small publisher like Atlus, over ordering a game can be a serious risk but far worse is over ordering a mask ROM game. The portion of the retail price taken up by the media cost is much higher than anything using optical discs, even a one of a kind design like the PSP's UMD.

On the other hand, you get games that are more portable. There is much less worry of damaging a DS cart than a UMD game or movie. Plus load times and battery usage are better suited to portability.

You weigh the positives against the negatives and hope you have a vaible product.

8. I'm just glad you used that headline (and not the discharge one).

I've said it here before & I'll say it again. This is (in my opinion) the coolest DS game out there.
