One of the highest-profile Wi-Fi titles of the year has finally released and the critics were quick to offer up their opinions. Generally, the game has seen a fair amount of praise, however critics have mentioned that the title's multiplayer is not exactly on par with the game's single-player experience. The scores are as follows:
- IGN - 80%: "It's at the very least a great start to the franchise. Bump up the difficulty, add some variety to the missions, bring back the forced-scrolling on-rails levels and the wingman-in-danger elements in a sequel and you'll have yourself the ultimate Star Fox adventure."
- Gamespot - 75%: "Star Fox Command has great controls and introduces a strategic layer that's fairly interesting. However, the random feel of the story battles and the frantic multiplayer mode don't make the most of this game's solid foundation, which might cause nostalgic fans to long for the series' good old days."
- 1UP - 70%: " None of the strategy elements that comprised the core of the single-player game are in multiplayer -- how cool would it have been to battle for strategic positions and race to key items on the overhead map against friends? How loudly does this game scream for a custom map editor? Should Command see a sequel, competitive strategic multiplayer ought to be a big part of it."

I like this game in general, but agree it could use some improvements. I especially dislike the timer on each level. Also, I am a big fan of on-rails levels, and would love to see those added.

I am yet to beat this game, but already have it.
The single player mode is excelent.
Yes, I miss bigger maps, and yes, I miss co-op play with Falco and Peppy right next to ya, but its understandeable, since the DS simply *can't* do that.
I got pwnd on Multiplayer twice. 1 vs 1 are greatly hampered by the stealth item. It pretty much means that whoever grabs it gets a free kill.
Overall, the touchscreen is a great improvement. I'd take that rather than the DPad for movement.

I picked it up last night and played through the first few single player missions (not going to play multiplayer until I'm sure I won't be embarrassing myself out there).
I'm enjoying it immensely so far. Bigger or rails-based levels would be nice, but it's fun to scour the level and hunt down all the secondary enemies. It certainly is bringing back some old feelings from StarFox 64.. specifically, the urge to punch Slippy in the face. The touch control is intuitive but setting off the specials can be touchy sometimes.

Rant time!
I love it. Single-player-wise, I've beaten three of the paths, and one which is appearently meant to be the big ending (Emperor Angler in the Venom Sea). My only gripes are a few cheap deaths, some of the ridiculous endings, and the fact that Panther speaks entirely in the third-person, and makes me hate him. Slippy on the other hand is fine.
Multiplayer-wise, you can't pick characters in download play, and the bomb whore (me) will always win. It's a simple contest of boosting for the items and then violating your opponent. Three-player should prove to be a different experience, but two-player is still fun. I've yet to try Wi-Fi, but I'm hoping I can pick characters and maps. James McCloud ftw.
Also, I can't feel anything below my elbows. That's normal, right?
