Over at Game Watch, you'll see the headset is photographed in revealing, contorting positions, both alone and physically hooked into DS Phat and Lite alike. Also, a shot of the headset resting on a person's ear makes it look much more comfortable than other headsets made by other gaming companies. Of course, we're just speculating not having touched this headset nor having had it rest upon our ear.
Sure, the obvious things such as chat in Metroid Prime Hunters come to mind, but where else is this headset actually essential? Follow the post after the break for all of the pictures of the headset from Game Watch.

Id assume that its also going to be usefull for the Wii in games like pokemon battle revolution and other games that have ds conectivity.
I think once wii is out for a while getting a DS AND a Wii combo could be very cheap

These pics HAVE to be old... otherwise it would have been hooked up to a Lite. I hope I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone and have my DS & Wii headset all in 1 purchase.

Diamond and Pearl have full Voice Chat, so the headset is for them.

Saxon - it's to reduce noise on the line from radio interference. You'll notice all monitor cables have them as well.
My guess (i.e. I'm making stuff up because I'm no EE) is that it has something to do with inductance. Perhaps the clip increases inductance enough to make the wire a worse antenna than it would otherwise be?

Yup, found something right after I posted.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inductor#Applications
"Inductors are used extensively in analog circuits and signal processing. Inductors in conjunction with capacitors and other components form tuned circuits which can emphasize or filter out specific signal frequencies. This can range from the use of large inductors as chokes in power supplies, now obsolete, which in conjunction with filter capacitors remove residual hum or other fluctuations from the direct current output, to such small inductances as generated by a ferrite bead or torus around a cable to prevent radio frequency interference from being transmitted down the wire."

It is simply a Nintendo branded one Duscrom. I honestly would go for the Nintendo one over sometimes unreliable third-party equipment.
With all due respect,

Not to sound too dumb, and I know I've seen these before, but what is the purpose of the little clamp on the cord?
