It's always interesting to see what people will do to their systems. Especially their expensive, pretty ones.
The Onyx DS (or, black DS) happens to be, in our opinion, the sleekest, sexiest system released on this planet. The fact that our fingerprints were visible after playing doesn't bother us. We simply carry around a soft cloth to wipe them away after long sessions with Starfox Command, and consider it a small price to pay to the gods of sleek design.
While we have no problems seeing the DS covered in shiny goodness, some people disagree. This difference of views can sometimes lead to experimentation of the most brutal kind.
NeoGAFfer Dice isn't too satisfied with the glare on his Onyx DS. He decided to experiment with this in a very painful way. Overt your eyes, weak-stomached ones. This one kicks you right in the gut.
Behold what happens when you take equipment used for fingernails to a DS. The end results are icky and can be seen on the second page of the thread. Is there some kind of system abuse line we can call to make the pain stop?
[Thanks JC!]

I actually find the sanded down DS lite kinda nice!
It was a risky move though, I'd certainly never do it.

I like matte black better than shiny black anyday. The PSP is definitely a sexier looking device than the Onyx DS Lite in my opinion though.

Why would someone commit such an atrocity! DS fanboy, you should have linked the image with warnings; it was almost too much!

I find things rather the opposite; though I really don't know why you chose to bring that comment out of the blue...

As horrified as I was by the first pic, dig deeper in the thread and you'll find a not half-bad mod. Too bad he hasn't cleaned it up around the logo on the front. However, the REAL abomination in that thread is that Lost In Blue mod! Great googly moogly...and someone was proud enough to post that on the internet? o_O

Not ridiculous to want a matte finish but it is silly to sand it if all ur lookin for is fingerprint protection and a bit less slip. Invisibleshield.com and bestskinsever.com make the completely transparent (unless ur like 1 cm from it) shields to put on all kinds of sh!t. They make it 100x easier to clean off fingerprints and even though they are pretty damn transparent, they add texture. Makes it easier to hold the machine.

Wow, you can tell JCA hasn't been here long. Sh!t? Wow.
I like the matte one myself. If they would release one that was wholly the texture that the inside surface with the buttons is, then I'll buy a black one.
Until then, it's my White Lite FTW!

It's quite obvious by Silver's comments he prefers the PSP. I don't see a problem. It's not as if he's trolling. :)
As for the that thread, the end result looks quite good. I'd still never dare trying anything like that. I know for certain I'd fuck up. I'm still too afraid to apply screen protectors to my Coral.

Everybody in the thread expected Dice's DSL to be cast into ruin by this exercise. It actually came out pretty nice! If only he'd used a finer grit, it could have been perfect.

Wow that ended up looking like shit, especially the front of the unit. He should've just left the glossy top and done the rest of the bottom, all in all it sucks very much : it doesn't look nice at all, I dunno what you people are smoking.
