I bought my sister a Pink DS Lite when i was in NYC at the Nintendo World Store. At first she wasn't crazy about it but once she started playing AC:WW and brain age she brings it everywhere.

My mom turned 50 two weeks ago. I bought her a pink DS Lite with Brain Age. Now she wants my dad to get one so they can play against each other--she takes hers everywhere.

I bought my mom a GBA SP about two years back. Since then, she's collected a huge assortment of GBA games, bought a GameCube, amassed another pile of GC games, bought a DS (two days before I was going to give her one

I know that the DS appeals to a lot of different groups, but there is a definite gap between "Nintendogs is cute" and "I want my own DS and games." Since the release of the DS, Nintendo fans have been ignoring that gap. In fact, it kind of seems that Nintendo marketing is not directed at non-gamers as we suspect, but at rabid Nintendo fans who can be convinced to buy stuff for non-gamers.

And yes, my mom likes games too, though she's content to replay Zelda every year or so (that is, The Legend of Zelda, i.e. the good one.)

That said, I'm glad more people are getting into games, even if they have to be forced into it at first. We could use some more legitimacy with the general public.

It's amazing how much appeal the DS can have to non-gamers like this...

I still doubt my mum would be into it, but I think if i got brain age and made her give it a go once or twice, she may just enjoy it.

My mum is 53 and i decided to get her one as well so she can play it when she goes on holiday and let me tell you she loves it and the other good thing is it is easy to find her something for christmas, more games

I am 15 as soon as I et a job, I'm going to put aside $3 a week to buy a game system or 2 for homeless children. A a couple Wii would go nice.

Not to discourage you #17, but I recommend giving them money for necessities, not games. Mind of Mencia had a joke about homeless kids in another country getting N64s from some group. He made it into a laughing matter, but they really need the necessities first. If they're homeless, where will they charge it? Sure, public places sometimes have spots, but not everyone is willing to pay for someone else's electricity use. How will they buy games? What if it breaks? Can they ship it off to have it fixed? Not if they don't have a steady address.

I think you should continue putting money away, but for helping them with food, clothing, shelter, or other basic needs first.
