GameStop importing a pair of DS games

Looks like GameStop is getting into the importing business, slowly placing their toes into the water and testing the temperature with two different DS titles. These titles, which are great choices, are Jump Superstars and Naruto: Saikyo Ninja Daikesshu 4. News of this comes from GameSpot UK, so we're assuming this is only going to be available to UK consumers for the time being, with a possible test run in the US coming later, as well.

With importing being more of a diehard fan practice, could GameStop realistically expect this to take off with the average consumer? Will the language barrier be too much to overcome with shoppers? Besides, with several different online retailers, why would anyone even want to go to GameStop for imports?

1. There is no gamestop in the UK, unless you mean GameSpot's partner's UK equivalent; GAME.

2. Some Gamestops carried imported European copies of Shenmue 2 way back in, what, 2001? Anyway, just going off of vague memory here, but I think they were imported through the same company, Tommo.

3. I seen a GameStop when I was on holiday in Dublin, so maybe it's Europe?

4. It's not only UK.

Check Gamestop's website and you'll see that both games are listed. It is, however, an ONLINE ONLY OFFER. Stores are not receiving these games.

Trust me, I already checked.

Check Gamestop's website. Jump Superstars and Naruto are both listed. It is, however, an ONLINE ONLY OFFER. Stores are not receiving shipments of either of these games.

Trust me, I already checked.

6. I've seen both of those titles at Best Buy with a little sticker saying they're imported. Though, those two are the only imported ones I've ever seen at a Best Buy.

7. I noticed several imported DS and PSP games at a Fry's near me. The only title I remember was Jump Superstars, but there were a few others as well.

8. Yeah, the Best buy here has those titles too, as imported. I was surprised and happy that maybe directly importing japanese titles to US stores will catch on and I won't have to wait so long for games :)
