DS-x2 got a hold of some screens for the upcoming sequel to Lost in Blue. What's the most surprising about them is the confirmation that the game will take place on a desert island. We totally didn't see that coming! Now, we never played the first game, so we have no frame of reference on whether to be excited or disappointed at the idea of a sequel, but that's why we have you, fine reader!Continue past the jump to catch the screens and leave a comment telling us how you feel about a Lost in Blue sequel. What did you love/hate about the first game?

Hmm... Lost In Blue was more frustration than fun. While some elements of the game was interesting, such as the actual exploration of the deserted island, almost everything else was a neverending chore. Stocking up on food and water 90% of the time wasn't all that exciting. The characters needed constant taking care of and even if fishing and hunting was fun for a while, it grew tiresome pretty fast. And, seeing those screens, it really seems they haven't even bothered updating the crude visuals of the first game. But here's hoping anyway, cause it's an interesting concept.

If there is one DS game I would take with me if I were going to be stranded on a desert island, it would be Lost In Blue.
Just for the sheer cosmic irony of the thing.

i really enjoyed the first one (I still own it) - I thought it was interesting to explore the island, and I don't know if it's my gameplay style or not - but as soon as I got bored with something, I'd discover or unlock another area to occupy me. I have never hit a game with such great pacing (although many before and since have had better gameplay). Whether or not I'll buy the sequel? Well, probably, to complete my collection of DS releases.

This isn't exactly the first sequel. There have been a bunch of "Survival Kids" games. This is another one.

It's a very interesting concept and it appeals to me a lot... but doing it *right* is very hard - it's simply not possible to code everything that the player might try and do...
If gameplay becomes too much of "figure out what the game wants me to do" rather than "do what you would logically be expected to do", these games start to suck...
I've not played the previous game, but I'll keep my eye on this one and hope for the best...

Desert, unexpected. Deserted, very expected.
The 3rd? Lost in Blue was fun, at times, but due to having to CONSTANTLY micromanage... well... sucked. I would have it made - a nice bamboo spear, and then it'd go an break, necessitating a long, hazardous journey to get more. It was too much of a struggle to barely survive in that game.
If the difficulty's toned down some, this game could be worth a purchase. I still pick up LiB on the occasion, but... It's just aggravatingly difficult. If they were to, perhaps, make it possible to survive within a bit of the cave, instead of forcing the characters to trek all over in order to live merely hand to mouth... I've thought for a while LiB combined with a Harvest Moon type thing could work well.
