DS Daily: Pocket-sized?

Pocket-sized.The original DS Phat, of course, was a veritable brick, fitting only into the baggiest of cargo pants. The redesigned DS Lite was far slimmer, but ever since the Game Boy Advance SP, we've been having trouble seeing it as a truly pocket-sized device. Sure, it fits, but it's hardly comfortable when walking or sitting. Students can use backpacks, girls can use purses, fancy business people can use their sport jackets ... how do you carry your DS Lite, especially when you just want to take it with you without anything else? Our own optimal solution involves a tesseract, but that's neither here nor there. Get it? It's a spatial relativity joke. Never mind.

Food for thought?

I think it would be feasible for Nintendo to create a sliding screen design for the DS. so that the top screen can remain thinner rather than a reinforced cover to protect the buttons etc. The speakers could be repositioned on the lower portion of the unit.

I carry mine in my backpack. If I don't have my backpack with me, I'll usually carry it in my hand, since it doesn't fit my pockets.

Yeh, I wish the system was a little smaller.

i get nervous carrying it around without anything....
i got a slip on case for it from stupid gamestop but it gave my white ds a red tint which was weird

i also have the problem of wanting to carry around lots of games since im bored with the current game selection

it would be cool if the ds was smaller because then it wouldnt be so obvious if you were playing it in class haha

My front coat pocket works well. I feel nervous without my DS right beside me, but in my pants pocket, I fell like it might break, so it works well in my coat breast pocket. once summer starts I don't know what I'll do...

Why just the DS Lite, dude? Why do you assume people who have regular DS's can't take them anywhere? It's not an Xbox. It's not that much bigger than the DSL.

DS Large fits well in my inside pocket in my leather jacket, which I wear everywhere. In the house, it either rides up front in my hoodie, or front pants pocket (they're 38's).

I have a very comfy wool coat with massive snapping pockets. My Lite fits very comfortably in there, even in its case.

I also keep in in my backpack, but I also have the aluminum case for extra protection. If I take it somewhere, right now I can just put the entire case in my coat pocket.

On a side note, does anywhere know a good place to get individual game cases (each holds only 1 ds cartridge) so it will fit in my aluminum case, but still be a little more protected

Spacial relativity jokes in mind, you guys do realize that your attempt to use the term Tesseract is likely more referring to the "Wrinkle In Time" usage of the term (which as the wiki entry you linked said, is really more of a wormhole where matter travels through space while ignoring time rather than travel across time itself) than a a true hypercube in motion, right? Just sayin' :)

I actually did know that, Ravage (a tesseract is generally just a hypercube, but I guess L'Engle didn't know that), but the joke sounded way cooler with tesseract than wormhole. ^^

Wow, it's some space-time-wormhole joke? I didn't click the link, and assumed it was some kind of operation where they opened up your belly and put a pouch in for storing a DS.

...what?

Anyhow, I keep my DS (Phat) in a snug case, attached to another case the same size with games and headphones, etc, in it... It goes in my backpack, which I take everywhere. Even if most of the time the only other things it contains is a water bottle and a small towel.

I protect my Enamel Blue DS Lite with a Hori Cordura Wallet Pouch (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-b6-77-d-49-en-15-hori%2Bwallet-70-1jl1.html) and keep it in my backpack.
