Apparently an up-and-comer in the Japanese celebrity world, Haruna Anno has decided to test the toughness and durability of a couple SNES (Super Famicom) cartridges. All being Street FIghter II: The World Warrior, one was left to freeze in an icebox, another left to burn on a stove and the last was chucked down a flight of steps. The conclusion? Upon placing each game into the console and turning it on, they all worked and played fine! Amazing, especially in the case of the one subjected to fire, as it had to be filed down to actually fit into the console. So has this launched her further up the ranks of the Japanese celebrity list? We don't know, but now at least we know our cartridges might be safe if we accidentally flung them down a flight of stairs.

I can personally vouche for the durability of the DS cartridge. I threw my copy of New Super Mario Bros. 20-feet across the room into the wall thanks to my frustration with dying just before reaching a point where I could save the game. Alas, I had gotten to that point more than a few times that evening and always managed to die JUST before being able to save. Sadly, the New Super Mario Bros. cart worked fine when I put it back in to my DS. It seems those little bastards just won't break when subjected to instinctual violence. :( I'll have to get really vicious the next time I play that game (it's been a few months since I've felt that masochistic).

My mum washed my brothers jeans with a DS game in the pocket... it still works. The game in question is Lego Star Wars Trilogy which has never worked anyway :-P

I should make myself clearer, Lego Star Wars Trilogy for the DS is a buggy game.

I can vouch for durability. Me and my friend were going to my cousin to play Mario Kart for the Snes on our bikes. The game dropped from his pocket into the street and suddenly a truck went over it. It cracked the case and when we got to my cousins house, and a big surprise to us, it worked fine!

All this durability stuff is weird. I have had games survive multiple encounters, but no DS game is safe from my dog. Everyone he's got (except for the Metroid Prime Hunters demo) have met a horrible death at the jaws of Bosco. These include my friend's Mario and Luigi: Partner's in Time, my Mario Kart DS, and my Trauma Center.
