And while we're on the subject ... anyone else just itching for the blue ones to make their way outside Japan? Import costs are just no fun.

Who knows how many I would have if Nintendo could actually make em and ship em off to retail.

I think owning multiple copies of the same system is ridiculous, but even I would buy a second lite if they released those light blue ones!

I own a DS and a DS lite, but I would never own two DSes or two DS lites. Besides, my old DS is broken now, anyway. ;_;

I have 3 DSes. 2 are the Hot Rod Red DS Phat Mario Kart Bundle (One is unopened). 1 is an imported Enamel Blue DS Lite.
I freakin LOVE my enamel blue DS and I wouldn't trade anything for it. If I had the money, I would buy every special edition DS Phat and DS Lite out there. I'm a HUGE video game collector and any time I see a special edition Nintendo product... I just have an itch to pick it up and keep it locked up and safe. It's an addiction.

Hell no. I could barely afford to buy one DS, and it's just too bad that they announced the Lite so soon after I bought it. The incremental upgrades aren't worth buying another one-- I wouldn't buy a new TV if it were exactly like the one I had, but a little brighter.
Plus I like not having to worry about the hinge or the delicate finish. Also I am a total hermit and don't have any friends, so it doesn't matter if my DS is not fashion-forward enough for the mall, or whatever.

I plumped for the Black DS (onyx I think they called it) at the UK launch. Although since having the fine black stallion, I'm not 100% sure I made the right decision. The white DS now seems more iconic. The same way a white iPod just looks 'right'.
To keep the little guy company, I also have a silver DS Phat, and an original grey 90's Gameboy. Top Ranking Tennis on the original Gameboy is still one of my favourite games, but that (along with the Wii's lack of GB and GBA emulation) is another story!

Dude, it's not exactly like the one you had, just brighter. It's smaller and easy to slip in ur pocket, the buttons are placed better, and the picture quality is better even when the brightness settings are all the way down. I didn't even consider the ds after playing the old one a few times, talk about an unclear picture. After checking out the new one and finding out what has changed since the last one, I went out to get the lite. it isn't just more fashionable, it's better in every way.

I want to get a DS Lite, so I can trade between the two new Pokemon games(I will probably get both). I currently have a teal DS Phat, but really want to get a DS lite, once there are better colors in America(hopefully Pokemon and LE).

I'll take tom b's comment and raise him:
I, on my own, own the following Nintendo handheld systems:
Gameboy Original: 1 Grey Brick, 1 Clear Brick
Gameboy Pocket: 1 Clear smaller brick perfect for just playing Tetris
Gameboy Color: 1 Clear Purple, 1 Clear Colourless (you know, the special far east edition).
Gameboy Advance: 1 Clear Blue
Gameboy Advance SP: 1 Silver Original Edition (not the enhanced brighter screen edition)
gameboy micro: 1 20th Anniversary Mario Edition.
DS: 1 Onyx/Graphite Black depending on the region you get this one in (great for just keeping Brain Age in for Sudoku in bed)
DS lite: 1 Jet Black for main stream gaming.
Currently missing a new bright edition of a GBA SP (but not too fussed since the micro makes up for it) and also missing a Gameboy Pocket Light which would kick my old Pocket out of the water and be a permanent Tetris fixture.
Considering that my older systems get very little play out of them (apart from the pocket), my dad plays Tetris on my bricks, I play GBA games on the micro, Sudoku on the Phat, and the new DS titles on my lite.
I've got in excess of 70 GB (Mode 0, 1 and 2) and GBA titles and 18 DS titles. I think I'd definitely get a worthwhile edition if it was really special. For example, I'd get another micro just to keep my mario edition separate. I'd get another DS lite if there were major colour changes. I wouldn't get the GBA SP NES edition. That one just sucked... Anyone getting my drift here? A nice special edition that screamed a game franchise would go down nicely (like a really OTT FF/Mario/Zelda/Pokemon/Phoenix/Castlevania etc...) not just a few characters on the top...

My boyfriend had a silver DS phat that I stole and played all the time on the road. When the DS Lite came out we traded it in for the Polar white, and I also stole that one. But this past christmas when castlevania came out I felt guilty so I bought him a black DS Lite to play it on and kept this one. Its okay, it has the infamous hinge crack and the bottom screen is going yellow but I haven't sent it in, because, honestly, I don't think I could go 2 weeks without playing it. I'll keep it until the blue ones come out in the US, and then I might trade it in but I can't see myself just having two. I was raised thrifty and two would just seem wasteful ;)

I've got an Onyx one that I got this past October, and I think if the Enamel Navy one comes stateside I'll have to trade it in or something, having 2 DSs would be weird, although my sister wants to get one but she wants the Coral Pink or whatever it is. I could sell it to a friend cheaply though.

I have
2 NESes,
2 SNESes,
2 N64s, and
1 Wii.
I also have
3 Game Boys,
1 Game Boy Pocket,
1 Game Boy Light,
1 Game Boy Color,
1 Game Boy Advance,
1 DS phat,
1 DS Lite.
To fill out my collection to show off to friends I'm borrowing a clear Play it Loud! Game Boy, and a GBA SP (I'll probably buy them off my friends), so all I need now is the 2nd-gen GBA SP with the improved back light, and a Game Boy Micro.
Oh, and this thing is the sexxiest Game Boy ever:

I should also note that regarding the DS, I bought a grey phat one on launch day way back when, then I bought the Japan-only candy pink DS when that came out, and I bought my girlfriend the U.S.-only pearl pink DS that came with Nintendogs. Then I bought the white DS Lite. I recently sold my original grey DS phat to a friend though, so now I only have 2. I'll probably sell the candy pink phat on eBay eventually. And it's taking every ounce of my strength to not buy the coral pink DS Lite. Let's just say pink is my favorite color, and my Mii rocks it like I do.

ditto those who can't find em to buy em... other than wal-mart selling DSLs online in a combined package that costs a minimum of $200, there are none (well, pink ones, but wtf?) to be found anywhere... give me a chance to buy more than one and i just might...

I have two Lites. One of them was for my wife but she hasn't had much time to play it lately. We also have two GBA SPs (for playing through Zelda: Four Swords Adventures).

With GameBoys, I usually upgraded when the difference was big, such as the original GBA to the GBA SP. Unless my DS broke (knock on wood) I wouldn't get another one just of a different color. I'm happy with my Polar white for now, so sleek and sexy.
