DS Daily: To keep or not to keep

There are as many philosophies about what to do with games you've finished as there are types of gamers. Some people keep everything, building collections which can later be sold for fat stacks of cash on eBay. Others need a revolving door installed at their local gaming store to handle the volume of their trade-ins. So what about you? Do you rent? Scheme games off your friends? Or are you planning to build a fort of discarded games strong enough to fend off an undead invasion?

I'll keep any game that I enjoyed a lot - it's always worth another play through at a later date.

If I get a game that I don't think would be worth playing again, I'll sell it / loan it out / swap it / trade it in...

My copy of Super Princess Peach (it was a gift, i swear!) has been on loan for many months now.

Ebay - you can get a lot more than trading it in to a used game store.

I keep the good games along with any Wifi enabled games but I sell most games once I complete them. I don't like selling them on ebay because ebay ends up taking so much of the price. Most of the time I'll trade them at...

http://gametz.com

It's a pretty good trading site.

I've traded a couple times only to regret it later. I always want what I don't have so the minute I trade in a game I want to play it again, hahaha. So yeah, I have an unusually large supply of DS games that go everywhere with me..I never know what I'll be in the mood to play ;)

There has only been 2 games i have ever gotten rid of ever

1. Pokemon Stadium: When Pokemon Stadium 2 came out, i figured it wasn't worth keeping, since 2 did all that 1 did

2. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Because, in single player mode (none of my friends had the game or cared about it), that game was more boring than anything i have ever played

I keep everything, even games i know i won't be replaying again for a long time (Starfox Command comes to mind, as do many of my Saturn games)

I keep everything I buy.... unless it's just a crappy game (Goldeneye Rogue Agent, anyone?) For example, I've still got my good ol' games for my SNES. And my DS collection gets bigger after every school semester (I get at least 2 or 3 a semester)

i always keep mine, well unless it sucks. i keep them because i say im going to play them again but i never do once i buy something new. and even when i do try to play them again i end up getting mad because i cant use stuff yet that i get later on in the game (yea i know thats the whole point but it irks me). but if it sucks then i just trade it in to Gamestop or trade with a friend.

The first and only game I ever sold was Symphony of the Night. A guy put up a good offer, but of course, I kicked myself for it later. Now I just keep everything, even if the system craps out. I still find myself going back to each of my DS games, anyway (except Mario Hoops. What a shit game.)

I generally keep games and add them to my extensive DS collection. But, there are some games I completely regret buying (Harvest Moon DS, Sudoku Mania) that serve as a reminder that I wasted money, so I sell those or trade them on tradegamesnow.com.

My collection is getting out of control though. And this week, I'm adding Diddy Kong Racing and Lunar Knights. Out of control.

I always keep everything, because I've learned that I usually end up regretting selling things. I can afford to keep it all because I always buy things used (and never at Gamestop - their used games are usually only $2-5 off full retail).

i traded in a few games to get a new one, lost magic. yeah that was a bad idea, i hated that game just about as soon as i turned it on, and since the place i traded it to is an hour drive, i just gave it to my girlfriends younger brother since he doesnt get new games that often.. oh well, thats what gamefly is for now, try before you buy..

I seem to swing between collecting my killer set of games on a particular platform, and freeing up funds for the next new thing!

Oh what a capricious thing is the human heart.

There have been a fare few times when I have later regretted selling a game. When you realise that old friend just isn't around anymore.

That said, I have recently been selling off some DS titles that I plan to buy on the virtual console. Super Mario 64 DS springs to mind, I was quite happy to sell it for a nice £20 ready to buy the Virtual Console Mario 64.

One thing that has helped me with all this is to develop a list of the games I value and would like to play again. This helps me get some daylight between me and my consumerist 'must own' desires.

I would like to have kept all my games, but there were some hard times in my life, and my wife and I have needed money badly at certain points, so I have had to rid myself of most of my collection from about three years back. However, since then I've nary sold a single game, and my collection is slowly getting bigger.

If I have a choice, I don't sell.

It was only a partially difficult choice to sell and trade off my old GB,GBC, and GBA accessories and games to help finance my Onyx DS Lite.

I did keep a few favorite GBA carts, but soon they also will joint the honored ranks of their predecessors.

I like many others do still keep them all close to my heart in spirit.
