When we stumbled across this feature at Modojo, we thought it simply too good to resist as a candidate for our question of the day. Over the years, there have been some pretty random accessories for handhelds, and as for the rest, opinions differ on what's worth the money and what may be a waste. We've covered a few, and comments vary wildly. Since it is a topic that each of us seem to approach differently, we thought we'd ask: over the years, what have you bought to maximize your handheld gaming experience, and what seems superfluous to you?

3. I got one of those styli, the first one broke, luckily there were two. It was my fault though (although the build could be more solid), and a little bit Ouendan's, and with more care the second one's great, genuinely more comfortable and practical. Also got screen covers from Hori, my touch screen's a tad more 'tactile' (it is) and my top screen is anti reflective, which is handy for watching the occasional turgid episode of Lost (they have been of late), or brilliant Scrubs on my Supercard 'Lite.' Which I'd recommend if the new 'DS' cards weren't a great deal better.

4. ... So you guys deleted both the second 'themusiclounge.com' comment, and my comment making fun of it, but left the original? What?

5. I dont have any accessories on my DS, I haven't found it necessary. I think the stylus is fine and all that. What i do find obnoxious though are the additional speakers people add. Much like the picture, and then use them in public places.
I'm all about bringing games wherever you go. Don't get me wrong I do it, but i dont really need to hear someone elses music, or game, its just common courtesy.

6. I got the 18k gold DS stylus, not that bling is usually my thing. But it's definatly one of the best DS accessories out there (short of a cheaper metal stylus). Its weight improves the playability of every single stylus game. I'm finding myself restarting Mario 64 from the beggining in dual control mode, using the web browser 10x more as it makes typing easier and hand writting alot more possible and tidier. Plus it has that nice cold metal feeling every time I take it out.
There might be a few more at futureshop.ca but I know the didn't manufacture many to begin with.

8. I've not really gone in for many add-ons, up-grades or tune-ups for my portable play systems. However I am quite partial for some tricked out Japanese stickers and case mods.
I'm currently in the process of designing my own case mode/sticker combination. Although I'm half expecting to brick my DS in the process. What price art!

9. has anyone tried one of those charger grips for the DSL? i think Nyko sells one... that would be about the only add-on i think i would try if it would actually make playing over longer periods slightly more comfortable... i hate having to ice down my right thumb all the time because of the crazy angle i have to use to hold the thing in my hands... (j/k, i don't actually ice down, but it does hurt!)

10. Only accessory I really have is one of the old straps from my Wiimotes. And I use this GBA case I found at a thrift store to store it.

11. My only accessory was the magnifying light for the original Gameboy. Not gameboy pocket or gameboy color, the original 3 shades of green gray brick that I loved. It still works. The magnifying lens plus light made car trips so much easier on my childhood and my eyes.

1. I bought a Hori retractable stylus for my DS Lite because I never could get used to the standard one. My sense of control is much better now, plus the pen fits in the DS stylus slot!
