DS Daily: Staying power

It's shiny and fast.High profile game releases come and go; we play the heck out of titles and usually move on. But sometimes, we don't. We go back, again and again, due to some unknown and mysterious force, beckoning at our wills.

Mario Kart DS and Clubhouse Games always seem to wind up in our DS after periods of relative inactivity; the casual nature of said games make it extremely easy to fit a round in whenever the mood strikes. Other games, however, such as Metroid Prime: Hunters, have gone untouched for months. Which titles do you guys play again and again, burning the midnight oil?

1. I agree, Mariokart is always playable no matter how many times you've played it. I beat New Super Mario Brothers in a few days, but the stupid mini-games sometimes have me coming back.

2. If you havent touched your MP:H in months, can i have it? :) Yeah, a game i always come back to is Mario Kart, mainly because there are other kids on the bus with DS's and we all play, but sometimes we all play Diddy Kong. Also, onetime i hadnt gotten a new game for a while, so I erased my Mario and Luigi partners in time data and started over.

5. Are You Ready? 3 2 1 GO!

6. Tetris!

Tetris DS is best tetris ever. Believe me as somebody who played original tetris of (and in) 1984/5 ;-)

7. Clubhouse Games by far.

8. With the exception of a short break, I've had a DS since launch. And, I don't have a single game that wasn't bought less than about six weeks ago. I play and trade...just the way I do it.

9. Cooking Mama always ends up back in my DS when I need a break from my currnt game. I have to get gold coins on every single recipe! ;)

11. "#5> Are You Ready? 3 2 1 GO!"

AMEN to that!! Elite Beat Agents always keeps getting me back

12. Advance Wars: Dual Strike. I'll be playing this game when I'm a brain in a vat.

13. Elite Beat Agents and Sonic Rush are the ones that I always end up playing the most.

14. I, too, will go back to Tetris frequently (though I initially had my gripes about the infinite spin and the occasional spotty network connection), as it's fun to even watch others duke it out if you've been knocked out early.

In my two-DS household, games like this, Clubhouse, Meteos, and Magnetica are staples. However, one game that's really surprised me in how much I'll obsess over has been Metroid Prime Pinball. Fun tables to replay (though I'd love just one more non-boss table), and there's always some aspect of the game I keep feeling I want to practice.

15. HHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Elite Beat Agents will haunt me for the rest of my days. One of the best games I've ever played by far.
Tetris sees a fair bit of playtime beyond it's regular life. Also if I've got DS toting buddies kickin' around then I've always got Bomberman Land Touch ready for some multiplayer action.

16. I have been playing MKDS and Tetris almost non-stop since they were released. And I don't think I'm gonna stop so soon.

17. Mario Kart all the way. Battle mode, particularly on the DS and haunted house arenas, is brilliant fun - even against CPU opponents. Falling off the edge of the level, blowing up balloons, and stealing them from opponents adds a ton of fun to the mix.

18. Yoshi's Island DS Ownz My Soul

Posted at 11:30PM on Apr 10th 2007 by drphang

19. For me the game I keep coming back to is ZooKeeper. I don't want to even imagine how many hours my wife and I have put into that game, trying to beat the highscore of each other.

FYI - my high score on the 6 min game is: 5,416,680

20. Tetris DS owns my soul. I'm always playing a new game, but wherever I got I take Tetris with me in case somebody want to throw down with me, or I get the urge to drop some blocks solo.
