THQ announced that a sequel to Worms: Open Warfare will grace the DS in the form of Worms: Open Warfare 2. The sequel is set to relieve fans of the franchise of their worries about the last game, this time adding full-on Wi-Fi Connect compatibility for some sure to be fun multiplayer match-ups. The online component will support leaderboards and user-generated content such as custom maps, hats and even dances.THQ also reveals that the game will feature a host of new gameplay modes, as well as 11 new weapons, which include some returning franchise favorites such as the Super Sheep, Concrete Donkey and Holy Hand Grenades. New game modes will include Rope Race, Puzzle and the requisite Campaign mode.
Sadly, we have no word on a release date as of right now.

You know, considering the more recent Worms releases I've seen, perhaps a better title for this post would have been, "Worms 2 set to DISgrace the DS."

Give us back the wide range of weapons Worms 2, World Party and those games had. The main down point for Open Warfare was the lack of weapons. I mean, they even canned the iconic Holy Hand Grenade. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

Yeah, I was hoping it would be a port of Worms 2 as well - also my fav of the series.
Well, lets just hope that this one doesn't SUCK COMPLETE ASS. Honestly, you'd think Worms would be the perfect game for the DS. How the heck did they mess it up so badly last time?
Lets hope the sequel is a "lets do it right this time" and not a "lets suck out some more money"...

not cool guys. reading the heading it sounded like worms 2 was coming to ds - i mean a port from the PC game worms 2. This was the high point of the worms franchise the best of the best i still play it every once and a while, throw in multi wifi and man it'd be awesome!!!
