EA is proving that they really are interested in Japanese audiences: not only are they designing MySims with Japanese gamers in mind, but they are making training games. Three of them!
They're all about drinking, too: Bartender DS, about mixing drinks; Sakashou DS, about sake, and Sommelier DS, about wine. The software is designed to help you choose fine beverages and properly store your wines. Sim City DS producer Hiroshi Murakami said that it was his hope that people would spend the 2950 yen on Sommelier DS and then buy good wine instead of going directly to the cheap stuff.

I would actually buy a Bartending app for the DS if it had enough info. Hopefully it'll come to the US.

@1: As would I. I like learning more about this stuff, and I can't think of a more fun and convenient way than a DS game. C'mon EA, localize it!

DS is becoming this libary of virtual books in Japan, I wouldnt be surprised if schools started making the DS an optional gadget to expand the students' studies.

Nintendo needs games like this here in the US. If there were learning games available here with lots of info., I woulod actually consider buying them. If they were priced right of course.

Haha, that's awesome.
I think if the DS/cartridges had some rewritable memory, apps like this would be so much better though. Downloading updates with new content would be awesome.
Still, great idea. Bonus points for the word "sommelier" - was trying to remember it yesterday!
