Of my polar white lite and my electric blue ds phat I usually play with the lite unless one of my sisters is playing with the lite. My lite has had a crack on the hinge since last november and it still works fine.

I have a DS phat. I dont have very much money to spend on games, only being 14, so my parents would only let me have 1 bought system at a time. I bought a gamecube, and then a wii. If the greatness that is the Nintendo Power sweepstakes didn't exist, i would not have my DS. I won two DS's and two copies of, yecchh, polarium. If I had won a year later, i would have a DS lite, but whatever. I definitely prefer the lite, but the phat doesn't dissapoint me.

Polar White Lite FTW. This is actually my 4th DS; I've had 2 Phats prior and another Lite. The Phats fit my hands a little better, but the overall awesomeness keeps me coming back to the Lite.

I had a DS Phat that I gave to my little brother and sister. I bought myself a DS Lite on impulse. That sticking out GBA cart and my big hands make it a little uncomfortable.

I own a 1st Gen DS Phat, and it still works to this day. I bought it right when the DS's came out.
I was just thinking this morning of picking up a DS Lite and retiring the Phat by giving it to my younger brother, but I don't know yet. My Phat doesn't have any cracks or anything wrong with it; the buttons don't stick, no dead pixels, just a few minor cosmetic defects such as surface scratches and the plastic that covers the serial number peeled away over time. I still have both styli that I received when I purchased the system.
I don't know if I take exceptionally good care of my little buddy, but I have been known to drop it or kick it accidentally every once in a while, but it still has no problems that affect the game play (including the hinge).
I posted pics of my DS Phat. I'm using a Wii's Replacement Strap as the wrist strap due to the original black wrist strap that came with the system was stolen from me when I purchased it.

It's kind of sad for the state of consumer electronics when it's apparently impressive for a three-year-old DS to still work, when I have a nearly 19-year-old Game Boy that still functions.

The DS Phat just feels sturdier and seems more comfortable for games that don't use the stylus. Also the mic on the Lite doesn't seem to work as well as the one on the Phat.

I have the mario-kart red DS Phat. I've been looking into getting a DS Lite but its not really worthwhile to purchase another product that does that same thing as one that I already own. My birthday is coming up in a while, so maybe i'll ask for one then. :P

I have to say my Lite is the preferred choice for the simple fact of the screens - they are glorious compared to the phat.
However, I wish there was some kind of hybrid model. I love the screens, stylus size (although I actually use a Battle Stylus), weight and aesthetics of the Lite but I prefer the buttons and D pad of the phat. They just feel less fragile to me. The sound quality and volume seem to be better on the phat as well.
So, if I had a DS Lite with the stylus size, buttons and speakers of the phat I'd be a happy man. :)

I got my DS on launch day and haven't upgraded to a Lite.
My cousin got a DS Lite over the summer. Very sleek. The increased screen brightness alone almost convinced me to buy a Lite.

Got a DSPhat nearly since launch. I still have the Metroid Prime Hunters Demo to prove it.
I'm giving it a paintjob in the next few weeks :P

I have big hands and still prefer the lite. you just have to know how to hold it - the phat, on the other hand ALWAYS gave me hand cramps.

I own a lite. Never owned a phat. The phat is nice though, but the screen brightness is a definate disadvantage from the Lite.
Kinda like the GBA SP. I couldn't have handled the first (no backlit screen) GBA.

I just upgraded to a Lite a few days ago!
I think it's ace. The bottom screen looks a kajillion times better, the colours for some strange reason look more vivid, and it gives me a bloody good excuse to play through my whole DS collection once I've gotten tired of Pokémon, which could be a while.

My hinges aren't in danger of breaking and I don't have to constantly polish the surface of my DS. I mean, I still do, but it's not critical.

I waited until I could get a DS Lite in Onyx.
I chuckled when I saw a GBA cart sticking out just like the original GB carts stuck out of my GBA SP.
I traded all my old GB stuff in with the exception of about a dozen favorite GBA carts and I haven't looked back.
(They'll always be with me in spirit. ;) )

I feel very confident in saying that Nintendo owes much of its recent success to the DS LITE. As far as I'm concerned, the DS Phat wasn't a real contender... which is strange because it implies the games are okay but a system can sell itself once it passes the aesthetics barrier. I think we can thank (or curse) the iPod for that.

Well...I have an interesting perspective on this topic, because my younger brother was able to get a MarioKart DS Phat long before I was able to get my Polar White DS Lite. Not to mention, my fiance' has a Lite & a Phat. So...this is a multiple person post.
My take? The DS Lite's sleek design, beautiful backlight, and upgraded scratch-proof screens makes me a happy girl. Sure, playing MarioKart for hours can eventually wear on my thumb due to button placing on a limited space, but seriously: It's so worth it. Not to mention, it's pretty. (Though, seriously, it'd be so much more pretty if it were the Onyx. *grumbles*)
My fiance', on the other hand, loves his Phat. He says it fits beautifully into his hands, and the buttons are well placed. Not to mention, he dislikes the fact that the Lite's battery power is drained quicker due to the brighter backlight. And he can't stand the sticking-out GBA cartridge's on the Lite.
My brother, however, is smart. He prefers the Lite and keeps begging me to trade him my Lite for his Phat since his hurts my hands less on MarioKart. I keep laughing in his face. I may give it to him when I finally get an Onyx, though....or if he offers to trade me his Wii for it.

I received a DS Phat for Christmas 2005 and 2 months later I saw the announcement for the DS Lite in Japan, I sold my DS Phat on Ebay for $120 (dumb luck) last May so I only went about 10 dollars out of pocket to pay off my preorder for the DS Lite.
Around 4 months after launch (October) I sent my Lite to Nintendo to fix the crack and they sent me another Lite, but this time it had a dead pixel....I quickly sent that one back only to receive another Lite with a hinge crack.
I called them up about 2 months ago explaining my entire situation, this time they offered a brand new Lite and my choice of color, I stuck with the white and so far the hinge has held up (knock on wood).
