DS Daily: Lite or phat?

So what's your weapon of choice? Do you prefer your DS slim and trim, or do you want it to have a little meat on its bones? And if you're one of many who own both a Lite and a Phat, which one do you prefer, and why? There are hinge cracks to consider, and small vs. large hands, and of course, stylistic choices. So lay it all out there and tell us what you have there in your pocket.

21. William Vito --
1) You make it sound like you imported your DS...I thought Nintendo didn't honor the warranty on units outside their intended country?
and
2) Man, you had your choice of colors and went with white over enamel navy or ice blue??

22. I just got my DS Lite (Coral pink), and so far the hinge has held up, but I wish the buttons were just little larger. While I don't have large hands, it still sometimes feels awkward with the smaller buttons, especially with finger nails and being used to console controllers.

The sleek design and the bright back-lit ,scratch proof screens are what decided me, though. The Lite is less bulky, in the end, and easier to carry around as well.

23. I like the phat and am in no hurry to get a lite. My fiance had bought an Onyx and I was glad to get a chance to try one before I bought my own.

I think the phat has more responsive buttons. The shoulder buttons feel a lot better, too. The weight of the Lite is nice, but that's about it. The phat backlight never seemed problematic to me.

24. I have previously had a D Phat before my grades fell and i had it taken away. But then i started saving up for a DS Lite. If i had to choose DSL would win every time, though i do love the DSP's Color. (I have black ds lite) I'm ok with it, and if you don't want to see smudges get the white one, just clean of the shoulder buttons every once in a while though.

26. I used to own a phat and currently own a lite that I received for my birthday. I prefer the lite over the phat because of the screen's brightness and the fact that the console is much lighter for me to hold when I'm playing Tetris (or any game) for hours on end. The phat hasn't been a problem for the guys I know, but as a girl I'm simply loving the lighter weight of the lite.

27. I own both and prefer the Lite. The only problems I see in DS Lite are the sound (but headphones can solve it) and the edges sometimes hurt my hands when I play for a long time. Other than that, DS Lite wins.

28. I had to have a DS when they came out, but money was a problem so I ended up buying someone else's phat on ebay.
It had that person's skin on it and it was scuffed in places. The protector on the touch screen was grossly uneven but on pretty securely so I never had the desire to peel it off and readjust it.

It was okay. I found I needed to keep the backlit screen on all of the time.

The DS Lite had been out for a year or so before I decided I was sick of the hand me down and went in to game stop to trade it in for an Onyx DS Lite.

I don't really remember that much of a difference in weights, but the screen is much brighter and the backlight doesn't drain the system as much.

I was kind of a doof and didn't buy a screen protector for it. Ouendan and the Pinky Street game have left my screen all scratchy. I've never used anything other than the stylus the DS came with.

If I can get the screen replaced I'm not going to make the same mistake twice. I don't think the phat and the lite are really all that different except for screen clarity and brightness. I do think that the DSLite has more style, but on the other hand, now I'm so afraid of fingerprints, I keep my Game Boy in a sock. ^__^

29. Actually, I 'might' start looking into getting a new DS because my current one has odd non-working pixels in the corners. It's not bad enough to get in the way of anything, but still, it's easily spotted.
But I kinda like the solid feel of the phat version, even though the weight may be hard on the wrist when I tink around with Brain Age.
