hoooooly crap that game looks like it's gonna be epic. As fas as graphics go... well... fancy summons aren't gonna do it for me. I was expecting for them to do something more with the hardware.
Oh well, I'm still getting it, hahaha.

You're crazy. FFTA was easily in the top 5 GBA games. If not for Advance Wars it may have been #1.

@7 AoOs:
If you've played Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, or any other turn-based strategy game, that's about how it rolls.

I am familiar with the turn based combat style from the FF games, I was just wondering if it was the same in FFT... :)

i also hope that this game is more like the original FFT than the FFTA. FFT was my favorite game, and for me FFTA was a disappointment.

FFTA may have been a decent game by itself, but by slapping the FFT moniker on it, square forced me to compare it to one of the greatest strategy RPG games ever made. And I think we can all agree that FFTA can not stand against FFT and be taken seriously.

I havent played FFT, but FFTA was great. The haters are almost always people who didn't like it *compared to FFT*.
As for FFTA2... well, the fact that it still has the "A" in the title (stood for Advance, when it appeared on the GBA) pretty much sums up the graphics. It still looks like a GBA game. Heck, half the sprites I saw in the trailer were the same.
That said, there isn't really all that much one can do to improve the graphics of this kind of game. Fancier spell effects (which they seem to have) look nice, but that's about it...
Still, looks like another few weeks of addictive fun. :)

@13 Same as GBA? The sprites have more color, they seem to animate a bit better, there's more overall detail, and it looks like they've upped the size of some of the sprites. This game looks better than the PSX version of FFT.

I played both and I thought FFTA was more fun than FFT.
Just the thought of more FFTA brings a tear to my eye! I hope the story is as mature as the last one. I liked the sub-theme of a boy trying to hide in escapism from his alcoholic father.

FFTA was horrible. Plain and simple, far to easy and the judge system was horribly executed. I'm really hoping they recover with this one, otherwise I'm just gonna start sending letters to NIS to make a Disgaea for NDS.

Am I the only one who played both FFTA and FFT and didnt think FFTA was terrible? I was dissapointed with FFTA's story line but that didnt ruin the game because the gameplay was excellent. The judge system got annoying at times but it also added another layer of depth to fights, requiring a strategy to be changed to accomadate for skills being outlawed.
If you put it in perspective, FFT was made for the ps1 which had a 3d geometry engine with capabilities of displaying approximately 360k polygons a second and had 2mb of ram. The gba on the other hand, had nothing but a 2d sprite engine, and less than 1mb of ram. The amount of space the cartridge could hold is about 32mb, while a ps1 cd could hold a much larger amount of data. So all in all i think that FFTA more than compensates for its deficiencies considering the hardware it was made for.
