We're not sure how we missed
Ecolis when the game was first announced last February, but Insert Credit thankfully brought the colorful
RTS to our eager attention. Developed by Lightweight (
Bushido Blade series),
Ecolis charges you with the task of defending wilderness habitats from pollution and deforestation. You'll have a variety of woodland creatures to manage and command during the
FernGully-esque adventure.
The concept art alone was enough to leave us charmed, but the accompanying screenshots are filled with just as much character. Head past the post break for
Famitsu's magazine scans of the title from a few months ago. If you have any idea what that orange, message-bag-carrying creature is supposed to be, make sure to drop us a line.

So a TBA release date for the .jp and no work on anything state side? It looks like a lot of fun but I wonder if we will ever see this game to fruition.

Fern Gully was a great movie. And it's not like pollution monsters in games haven't been done before. Super Mario Sunshine, Dewey's Adventure and the Vectorman games.

Err ... Ecolis? Makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it. What brainiac thought an intestinal bacteria that causes cramping and bloody diarrhea would be a cool name for a game?
Did it for shits and giggles, I guess ...

This just gave me an idea! What about a DS Pikmin game. That would be soo cool. But, of course, this will be too.

Maybe it's just cause I'm a hick who grew up in the woods, but that orange thing is most definitely a pinecone. The stem on the top of his head is a dead giveaway...

The scans of the Japanese promotional sheet about the game say that the creature is a durian. For those of you who don't know, it's a funky but sweet tasting Asian fruit. So there. Mystery solved.

I want to translate the pages as I did for previous scans, but both links lead to the same page! Please change the link for the first page and I'll get to work...
