Among its other many virtues,
Ouendan owed a lot of its overseas hype and success to its undaunting language barrier. Despite the menus and manga panels being filled with Japanese text, importers were able to follow the rhythm title's illustrated screwball plots and quickly pick up its self-explanatory controls.
Ouendan's recently-released sequel,
Moeru! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2, likewise requires little-to-no familiarity with the Japanese language in order to enjoy the game.
Even with these assurances though, there are still many
import-shy gamers who hide behind their mothers' skirts at the sight of
kanji characters. Fortunately for them, the Platformers has translated
Ouendan 2's menu selections, providing a visual guide with an overlay of English text. Most of the buttons and icons are obvious, but having a quick reference like this would be useful for first-time importers. Now there's no excuse for avoiding the cheer squad!

I usually just try to brute-force my way through the menus. Sometimes it works pretty well. However, it took me 15 minutes to find the "lefty-mode" option in Panel de Pon DS.
About Ouendan, I wonder how well it would translate from small, in-hands touch screen w/ stylus to large, foot-sensitive screen-on-floor arcade game with, well... feet.

The game is basically EBA, so just think what it was in EBA and you'll be fine. If you haven't played EBA... Then... Well, you're missing out. =P
I'm quite enjoying OTO2, which I wasn't expecting, got myself through EBA equivilent Crusin' mode within 2 hours, now on EBA equivilent Sweatin' mode. A slight bit stuck, but like EBA I'll be at HARD ROCK in no time... Though I never did complete OTO... Aw well.

finished the game already in normal mode...
was a bit easy for me.. but that could be only because i've finished ouendan 1 and EBA on all difficulties already...
only the last few songs gave me a hard time but finished the entire thing in the span of a day...
anyway... there are a total of 15 scenarios (not counting bonus...) the finale, like EBA consists of 2 songs. all the songs are split into 2, one for the old team, the other for the new team. not surprisingly the finale showcase BOTH teams.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
ouendan ends with a large meteor going to hit the earth...
EBA ends with an alien attack and repelling them...
Ouendan 2 ends with the sun dying out and earth getting forzen... the first song ends with a giant block of ice going to hit the new team, and the old team pushes them aside... and the last song ends with everyone charging up for a "shin hadoken" and "recharging the sun"
