The folks over at NeoGAF are reporting that the latest issue of Ngamer has an interesting chunk of rumor in it. In the latest issue, a reader writes in asking if
Donkey Kong 64 could appear on the Virtual Console for the Wii, what with the game requiring the expansion pack and all. Apparently, the folks at Rare have been thinking about that game too, but they've been thinking DS and
not Wii.
Given that
Mario 64 DS doesn't have the best control scheme, we worry about how this game would handle itself in that respect should this rumor turn out to be true. Other than that, we say bring it on.

Glad I'm not the only one that hated Super Mario 64 control scheme. I couldn't even get through the first world before I threw my DS down in disgust. THough I haven't tried it with the DS Lite, since it's smaller and better suited for my hands. Sort of.
DK64 is one of my favorite action/adventure games of all time. Please be true. Or: please be true and have a good control scheme!!
I have a feeling that it might not be possible, considering that the ol' D-Pad probably isn't good enough to have precise directional control.

Oh please god no.
DK64 was enough of a horrible abortion on the N64, I'd rather not see it get shovelwared onto the DS :(

Mario 64 DS is only a problem if you don't get yourself a nice thumb stylus. With the thumb stylus it makes left hand touch-screen control possible for us right handers without having to learn to hold a stylus comfortably in our left hand (Learn new stuff? F that!).

I had no issue with Mario 64 DS. In fact I played better on the DS than on the 64. I think overall the camera was better for the DS, allowing me to mark my moves better on the DS. The stylus was percice if you ask me.

DK64 was just Banjo Kazooie 3. 'Cept with Donkey Kong characters, and basically no evolution in gameplay. It was still fun, but some of the "bonus" stages were ungodly difficult.

"DK! Donkey Kong! DK! Donkey Kong is here!" Ah, the good 'ol days. If they bring this game to the DS I will buy it. That is, as long as they keep the "Donkey Rap".

I wouldn't think that the Expansion Pak would be a hindrance to Wii N64 emulation, because the Expansion Pak was (literally in my case, as i lost the plastic doodad that it came with) Shoehorned into the N64's circuitry itself, not like the Memory and Rumble paks that existed on the outside
I enjoyed Super Mario 64 DS, but i never liked Rare's Donkey Kong games, so i wouldn't want this anyway...

Interesting thing about Rare view on NeoGAF : "After that Rare has been sold to Microsoft, they made as games for the Xbox/X360 as for GBA/DS, according to gamedaily."

Rare wants to make this over Conker's Bad Fur Day?!?! Or even Perfect Dark which also required a expansion pak.

Rare needs to think about porting a certain spy-movie themed FPS to the DS, if could get the license...

You guys need to know that Rare CAN'T make ANYTHING for the Wii. Microsoft owns them, and only allows Rare to make games for the DS/GBA because MS isn't in the handheld market. bAnd even then, Microsoft is only allowing Rare to remake Donkey Kong games, because the DK franchise is owned by Nintendo. Games like Conker and PDZ won't make it to the DS, because those are MS properties. Viva Pinata is an exception to MS exclusiveness because it is a franchise, and making it for the DS only adds to the franchise.

If dk64 would come to the ds i would be the first day it came out, but I'm 70% sure that would never happen for three reasons
A.Rare was bought by Microsft so even though Nintendo owns the right to Donkey Kong, things are still sketchy and rare skrewed up diddy kong racing ds.
B. The controls would most likely be a pain to control.
C. The 64 version came with an expantion pak so the DS might not be able to fit it in one game card
