Taiko DS can't handle clothed drums

There are few things freakier than dressing a musical instrument in clothes, and Taiko no Tatsujin DS Touch de Dokodon instinctively knows this. That's why the game rejects this activity.

Either that or, you know, it's just a bug. Apparently the game has a problem in which you cannot continue playing after you attempt to change costumes in all three save slots. Bandai Namco is correcting the issue, and will have new copies of the game out soon. We would suggest holding off on importing until then, obviously.

Is the DS really hard to program for or something? It seems like we've had a disproportionately high number of game-breaking bugs. Well, this makes three that we can count, but that still seems high.

1. How did such a major bug make it past testing?

The mind boggles.

2. Didn't Age of Empires have a problem where it would brick under certain circumstances also?

3. Yeah, if your name on the system was three letters or less than it would completely destroy your copy of Age of Empires, pretty nasty!

4. Honestly I believe the frequency of bugs has more to do with rushing out releases than with the difficulty of coding for the DS...

5. This makes me incredibly angry! I preordered the game because I was so excited about it, and now I can use one of the big features.

Even if the game is fixed in Japan, importers are out of luck. And who can say if you wait that you'll get a patched copy instead of the bad one?

6. Wait, so if you change costumes in all 3 save files it'll kill the game? What if you just change costumes in one save file?

Posted at 6:47PM on Aug 1st 2007 by DKong

7. @DKong: I have the game 100% unlocked, only one character (in slot 1), and I'm still playing the game fine. I can change costumes fine as well.

8. @Enaress

OK, I'm not so mad now--sounds like the key is just to use one save slot.

Do you happen to have any links for English menu translations and such? I've played both of the PSP versions, but want to keep the frustration factor as low as possible!
