Infendo's list of the Top 10 Must-Buy GBA Games definitely includes ten great games. We approve of Infendo's drive to fill the neglected bottom cartridge slot of the DS with excellence. However, it comes off as a list of the Top 10 First-Party GBA games, with no representation of third-party publishers at all. Every single game on the list, even Final Fantasy VI Advance, was published by Nintendo. We know that Nintendo fans tend to be loyal to Nintendo even to the exclusion of other companies that publish on Nintendo consoles, but a list of great Game Boy Advance games should really have at least one Castlevania game on it. Technically, the NES Castlevania is included as "anything from the Classic NES Series," but that's not what we're talking about. We're specifically talking about the three original Castlevania games made for the system. We'd personally include Astro Boy: Omega Factor as well, but we understand that to be a matter of opinion. And we've grown used to not seeing Super Dodge Ball Advance on best-of lists, because the world is a terrible place. The full list is posted after the break.
- The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
- Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising
- Pokemon Sapphire/Ruby Version
- Mario Kart Super Circuit
- Metroid Fusion
- Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
- Golden Sun
- Final Fantasy VI Advance
- Fire Emblem
- Anything from the Classic NES Series

any list that does not include Aria of Sorrow is no list at all. and what about FFT:A? i know it had faults, but a million people didn't spend a hundred hours on it for nothing.

I feel that "Anything from the classic NES series" is a huge cop-out when there are tons of amazing games that were developed originally for the GBA. Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones isn't on the list, though arguably it could replace Fire Emblem. I thought it improved upon the first GBA title of the series significantly. Castevania should be on this list, as well.

You know, I never even realized that Super Dodge Ball Advance existed up until a week or so ago when Super Dodge Ball DS was mentioned on this site. You've all made it my new mission to find a copy of the game and play the hell out of it. I loved the original for the NES and am still extremely bitter about lending it to a friend 15 years ago and never getting it back.

@3: I agree that The Sacred Stones was better than Fire Emblem. The story was more involving, the combat was more balanced but at the same time more challenging, and the music was better.
I got Super Dodge Ball Advance when it was released, and it is easily better than about half of this list. I don't know why everybody keeps forgetting about it.
Dr. Mario & Puzzle League was a first party game that should have been on the list. Sure, neither game had the presentation that Tetris Attack or Tetris & Dr. Mario did on the SNES, but the gameplay in Puzzle League was perfectly intact, which should have been enough to bring it onto the list even if Dr. Mario hadn't been included.
I didn't like Castlevania: Circle of the Moon that much, but Harmony of Dissonance was good, and Aria of Sorrow definitely deserved to make the list.
What games would I get rid of to make room for these four? Fire Emblem would be replaced by its sequel, obviously. The other two are Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire (easily the worst games in the main series), Golden Sun (It's kind of cool at first, but the story is not very gripping), and the generic "Classic NES Series" spot.

I wonder why they picked Metroid Fusion over Zero Mission. Zero Mission had better music, controls, and overall gaming experience.
Fusion seemed rushed with goofy graphics and lousy almost Genesis quality sound.
They could have at least put a Harvest Moon game on there.

I'm currently playing FFTA on my Micro...I love that game. Just beat Minish Cap as well. I agree, there should be one of the newer GBA Castlevania's on the list...

Well, now I know never to trust a review of ANY Nintendo published title from that site.
I think the Nintendo logo gives it a +2 Infendo review score.
No FFTA, no Super Robot Taisen, no Summon Night, no Super Dodgeball, no Castlevania?
No List.

I don't fault the list too terribly much. When 90% of a system's third-party games are either generally tailored to grade-schoolers or based on television/movie licenses, the pool of candidates for highest-tier games becomes rather small. Much like everyone else, though, I'm perplexed by the lack of Castlevania, especially Harmony of Dissonance.
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones was definitely NOT better than FE: Rekka no Ken. The ability to choose between classes when promoting a character was a welcome change, but couldn't possibly make up for the woeful decrease in difficulty. Not only was it less than two-thirds the length of its predecessor, but the emphasis on carefully deciding who to train was casually thrown out the window with the addition of training maps that can be played over and over again like the Tower of Valni and Lagdou Ruins. The over-emphasis on the B-movie monsters and the chapter after chapter of hacking and slashing through them completely destroyed the game's ability to deliver a story rich in the political intrigue like previous Fire Emblems, and the characters and music were, for the most part, forgettable and shallow.
Don't get me wrong--I still love the game; it was just a disappointment in comparison to its predecessor.

Metroid Zero over Metroid Fusion.
FFT:A over FFiv.
golden sun is not a complete game, therefore you need GS2 in the same spot as well. (valid argument since they can include "anything form the classic nes carts" meaning a lot of games to cover for that spot)
what about Warioware (the first one)
and non-nintendo titles:
castlevania: aria of sorrow
astroboy omega factor
megaman zero

Yeah, I agree. Circle of the Moon and Aria of Sorrow were my two favorite games for the GBA. Superstar Saga immediately after that, games with humor rule. It does look biased in Nintendo's favor, but I can't deny it, nearly all of Nintendo's games are very well done. NSMB, MKDS, Tetris DS... I cannot get enough of them. I didn't like pokemon or mariokart super circuit, but that's just me.

Golden Sun, FF Tactics, Castlevania, i would also put in for Sonic Advance (just the first one, the latter two were bad), but Sonic Advance deserves to stand among the ranks of the Genesis greats

No mention of Astroboy: Omega Factor? You have got to be kidding me. That game is 100x better than Metroid and Castlevania combined.
