The rumor that Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol was cancelled is totally false. Well, mostly totally false. Gamespot contacted a Nintendo rep in order to verify the rumor, and got a surprising response."Chibi Robo: Park Patrol will launch October 2. The game, which features an adorable miniature robot who wants to clean up the environment, will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart stores nationwide."
We have to wonder why Nintendo has such little faith in one of their own first-party franchises that they're limiting its distribution so sharply. Sure, Wal-Mart is the second-largest game retailer in the US, but do you know who's bigger? All game retailers.

Well, I won't be getting the game. I don't shop at Wal-Mart, ever, for any reason. Rats.

I have a GameStop conveniently right across the street from where I work and Nintendo wants me to go out of my way to a Wal Mart (the closest one is...farther away?) to buy this game?
I love me some Chibi-Robo. It was one of my favorite games of the whole year when it came out (and it's one of my favorite games in the past half-decade)...but this isn't worth it. And it's not like I'm anti-Wal-Mart or anything like that. I just don't feel like going out of my way to buy a video game.

Wow, guess I won't be getting this game since I will not step foot in a Walmart. Good move Nintendo.

Ill join the "I won't buy this game", not because I dont shop at walmart (I dont), but because I dont want to buy Chibi Robo (I dont!).
Besides, there's better stuff to spend your gaming dollars on, such as Phoenix Wright 3, or Battalion Wars II and Fire Emblem Wii

@5 Gamestop and EB Games are the same company.
So really you have two Gamestops nearby. I'd place bets on your EB changing their signs over soon.

I don't patronize Wal-Mart and live in a city where there aren't many close by (which I am FINE with). I'm really confused at this marketing plan, or lack of one. Chibi is an esoteric game, and giving a shopping void like Wal-Mart exclusive sales seems like a commentary on the quality of the game. Perhaps Nintendo knows this iteration of Chibi is pure suck, thus condemning it to the most unscrupulous of mega-chains? Purely speculation, but I'll wait for the official release and most certainly the review before stepping foot in a Wal-Mart.
