First look at Orcs & Elves on the DS

At the recently concluded QuakeCon 07, Orcs & Evles was shown off to the press. Considering the game was announced back in January, we're glad to finally be able to see something on the game. It's also revealed, during the sneak peek, that the game will be available this holiday season.

The level we get to check out is the Prison. While the atmosphere looks to be on point, we have to say that moving the hero around looks pretty cumbersome and difficult. Also, we get to see one of the game's bosses, but it's kind of dark so it might be hard for you see.

Hit up the video past the post break and let us know if you think the jump from cell phone to DS is a good one.

1. If the SNES can run doom, so can the DS in spades. This archaic 2-3 frame monster animations and step-by-step movement looks extremely awkward. On the cell phone it is fine, they all have different buttons, blah blah has to work for all of them. On the DS? This is a joke. Hexen would be even better, especially with the touch screen for map/items, since the items were a pain to use in everything but the pc. Man that'd be nice, forget Orcs, port/make a new hexen!

2. Craptastic, and not in any kind of a good way.
Bad bad bad, and worse.

Just give us some Hexen if you're going to do something like that, not a stupid cell phone game.

The DS (and gamers in general) deserve MUCH better.

3. Hope that you can use the d-pad and the a button too, cause the touchscreenbuttons are way to small...

6. i have orcs & elves for cellphone and it's shit.

this looks pretty much as shit as that.

the fact that o&e1 was cellphone game of the year i think rests solely on the fact that most other cellphone games are even worse.

7. That game is so dark, I need to cast magic missile to attack the darkness. The graphics are meh.

8. I think it looks pretty sweet, they're still working on it and I'm sure they'll improve the game by the time it's out.

9. Haha, how awkward was that? I wouldn't mind an old school dungeon crawl though, but not at full price. Maybe if it's really cheap?
