Occasionally, people e-mail us looking for advice, and reader Ryan is the latest. He picked up some screen protectors and applied them without reading the instructions (tsk), and then found out that they were screen specific ... and the one on his touchscreen is meant for the top screen, and it's wreaking havoc with controller input. But that's only half the problem. The important half? He can't get it off! Since we have a similar problem -- we need to remove a worn screen protector that doesn't want to come off -- we thought we might ask for opinions and advice here, and see if anyone else has any issues that the community might be able to help with. So, having any issues? Post and let's see if we can't get 'em settled.[Image found here. We dunno how to fix that one.]

Your DS is finished. I remember that similar sight when my second DS which was a lite was finished. That brown set of wires that you are talking about has a short in it and causes the DS to turn off whenever you turn it on. Its unfixable trust me. You'll just have to replace it like I had to do with mine. Mine ended up like that from starting off with a hairline crack which grew then became a hole which then made the top screen loose, which then made the connection lose and gave me a flickering screen, which then killed the top screen and blanked it out during an important part of a trial in phoenix wright which then made me mad and I shook my DS and then my DS then looked like yours. Thakfully I had some extra money in the bank so I went to chinatown and bought me an imported Ice Blue DS lite. Which had wierd buttons and seemed heavier but I learned to love it. Its about time you bury your old friend and get a new friend.

...The Shit, what the hell are you talking about?
The picture is unrelated to the content of the post.
I put a screen protector on my DS for a few minutes, decided i didnt like it, and took it off. It was a bit tricky, but i think i ended up managing to lift a corner using a toothpick. Be careful though, you don't want to use anything or press hard enough to damage the screen.

Well, try to use your credit card it functions, I removed my screen protector a minutes ago :).
Also, normally with this protectors comes a hard piece of plastic to attach the protector to the screen, believe, is the best form of removing the film protector.

Try using one of those suction cup things. You can press it on without damaging the screen, then hopefully you can pull the protector off.
I just bought my first DS yesterday and man if anything happened to it.. I'd die :P.
P.S. How do I save in Metroid Prime: Hunters? I got really far and assumed it was saving automatically, ("loading last check point") then I wanted to play Mario so I turned it off and now I have to start over. So how do I save? Thanks in advane for your assistance.

Ellianth, the save feature is located back at your ship. Yes, you have to go back to your ship every time you want to save.

Try packing tape-- it's fairly strong and has always worked for me. Apply it to one corner (or a whole short side) of the screen protector and pull slowly.

To remove anything tacky I use IPA Alchol (the same strong smelling stuff used in CD/DVD cleaning packages) It evaporates in seconds, but if used under the edges once lifting is started it will disolve solvents. This should help with the peeling process. I've used it on similar Jobs and to clean my DS but not to remove screen protectors. IPA cleaning D/DVD packs can be bought at must music stores. I Agree that a soft wooden item is best used to lifting the Protector. 1st a toothpick then maybe a lollypop stick is its rounded.
Also leave the screen protectors off.. As Ninty makes the DS Kid proof so you should have a hard time damaging yours if your sensible.

I had to remove my screen protectors to get clear pictures at the baseball stadium. I started pinching it and picking it up, and the protector just stretched out. I freaked out thinking that my screen was coming up with it. It wasn't, but still.
Don't pinch at it with your fingers, is what I'm saying.

Don't use screen protectors.
Let your DS or DS Lite have a fulfilling life giving you joy and accept that nothing lasts forever.
Besides, who knows? Your favorite color might be a moment away from release!

My lord, suction cups and duct tape... I'll continue to not use a screen protector rather than bend the crap out of my touch screen. The stylus packaged with the DS is softer plastic anyways, keep the silly thing clean and it's immune to stylus-scratch. Go go Flent's Lens Cleaning Cloths!

I had a hell of a time the other night putting mine on without traping hairs or air bubbles underneath.
I found the best way to remove it was to use the included covers that went over the buttons as an adhesive to pull it off.
It did so without damaging the original filter.
