The age of remakes is upon us. If you're a DS owner, you can hardly escape it ... if you even want to! After all, Square Enix is certainly supplying us with plenty of remakes that promise heretofore unknown levels of awesome, but they're not the only ones crafting games both new and old for the world's best-selling system.Everyone wants a piece of the DS pie, but the question is, which pies are we interested in? There are a lot of games out there, after all, and while we love the Wii's Virtual Console for bringing that (mostly, usually) authentic retro experience, the list of games that could benefit from an update or touchscreen functionality is extensive.
We would like to look more closely at what our readers would like to see redone, and why. List your choices. Put on your debating hat and get ready to defend your favorites. From the list you provide, we will select a final list that we'll post as a poll in the coming days, in order to find out which remake possibilities can beat out the rest in a fanboy fight of epic proportions.

1) Out of this World (aka Another World)
2) Flashback: The Quest for Identity
3) Shadowrun (SNES or Genesis versions)
4) EVO: The Search for Eden
5) X-COM: UFO Defense
6) Lode Runner: The Legend Returns (the 1994 PC version with 2p co-op and a level editor, but now with 4p co-op or 4p vs. and a level editor and wi-fi would be the best game ever)

Chrono Trigger obviously, or Chrono Cross if they could squeeze it onto a DS cart ...though neither of those really need touch- or dual-screen.
Oh, and Mario Paint please!

I know I mentioned this the other day, but porting PS1 RPGs would be absolute win. Off the top of my head...
Vagrant Story
Lunar: Silver Star Story
Parasite Eve
Guardian's Crusade
Grandia
Wild Arms
Persona
Tactics Ogre
And, sure, why not: Eff Eff Vee Eye Eye.
...and I'm sure that there's a ton that I'm forgetting.
Probably being the last fanboy of these games, I'd almost kill for Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus to be remade/ported.

I was gonna suggest Midnight Resistance, but damn, flashback / another world (both on one cart would be nice) would definitely make me smile. Especially if they had new content.

Punch-Out!!
An all new 3D version of Punch-Out plus included in the cart:
The original Dual Screen arcade versions of Punch-Out and Super Punch-Out
The NES version of Punch-Out
The 3D version could have all new opponents plus a few classic ones, (perhaps Soda Popinksi is older with a white beard for example) The extra buttons could add some new offensive and defensive moves.
As for stylus functionality, between each round you could use the stylus to heal your fighter's face. Use end swell on swollen areas, Q-tips for nose bleeds and apply pressure and Vaseline over cuts within a time limit - kind of like a mini-game in itself that determines how fresh you'll return for the next round.
Create-a-boxer and ranked wifi vs. matches would be nice as well.
Faxanadu: I loved this NES game when I was younger, I actually thought Nintendo developed it back then. The premise of climbing up the world tree was pretty cool as well as the dark/comical aspects of the game. I just think it would make a great adventure game.
Wizards & Warriors: I'd like to see a third person top-down perspective (similar to a Baldur's Gate) with tons of character levels, items randomized maps and bosses plus wifi multiplayer. Presented with cartoony graphics and feel of the original Wizards and Warriors.

Xenogears.
Snatcher (could any other game be so perfect and so deserving of re-release?)
Lucasarts adventure games; Sam & Max, Monkey Island 1 & 2, Day of the Tentacle... Sigh... If only.

Off the top of my head:

Super Metroid or a Metroid 2 update(zero mission style). Seriously, I'm starving for some Metroidvania games.

Remake or sequel? Perhaps those are kind of the same thing in this case.
I would say Pilotwings, Kirby's Pinball Land, Donkey Kong 64, Galaga, Star Tropics, Lunar, Clockwork Knight, and I'll stop there. I would probably go on forever.

Super Metroid (I know it's on virtual console, but it's not here in Australia yet, and I'd like it portable anyway)
I'd also like all the GBC Zelda games (both Oracle games, and Links Awakening)

Oh, God bless Rubang B for his suggestions of X-Com and Loderunner!!!
Come on! It's not that hard for them to remake X-Com and Loderunner! People would be running out to purchase DSs just to play these games again!!!
Game developers: are you listening to this?????

Strider. For God's Sake. Strider. Can you image how awesome that would feel to control the plasma sword with your stylus? Or even a new grapple hook system with it? Give me some Strider.
