The Legend of Zelda: The Light of Courage is Nintendo fandom gone horribly, horribly right. It's a tale of adventure, lazy eyes and mean-spirited pranks against an IGN forum member.
The Light of Courage got its start when someone convinced an IGN poster named JoeCracker that animation company DIC was interested in using his fanfic as the basis for a new animated Zelda series. Then, to really sell the story, some guys, pretending to be Super Mario Bros. Super Show/The Legend of Zelda producer John Grusd, posted a CG "test animation" featuring a scene from JoeCracker's script. You can see that first animation above.
But they didn't stop there. Two more Light of Courage videos were produced, and they are epic. The lulz generated by parts 2 and 3 of The Light of Courage make up for pretty much all the other Zelda fanfic out there. We don't even really know what to say about them, except that they're embedded after the break, and that we hope we don't have to draw you a map to help you get there. And, if you like them, the Light of Courage homepage has higher-quality (sort of) WMV versions of all the videos, and even the promise of a fourth!

Am I the only one that wants to read the original fanfic to see what it was really like?

I've just spent the last two hours learning the entire backstory to this, and it is as epic as the above movies. Joe_Cracker's website is found here:

Despite all that has happened, he apparently STILL believes there are people out there who are taking him seriously, and he has had angry fits at the creators of the above videos because they 'stole his work' (ie. They told him the truth, ditched him and are continuing to make these parodies based on his script). The saga is far from over.

I like how John Grusd's shirt changes from Taco Bell to KFC part-way through the second video.

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhh...oh jeez. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen. Although it's kind of hard to tell how bad the fanfic was from the first video, as most of the funniness was the voices and animation.

It's brilliant, because this is the sort of deformed shit that DIC would actually make, I love it.

Actually I think what they did was quite mean. Joe Cracker clearly suffers from Aspergers syndrome:

I really don't see how making a fanfic of zelda (which isn't very good IMO) has anything to do with aspergers. My brother suffers from this, so I have first hand experience. Albeit not professional experience, but I haven't seen any quack with 15 years experience with it. anywho, I don't see what you mean by that, but I probably will if you point it out.

#11, If you read the original thread on IGN, it seems as though Joe exudes some of the major characteristics associated with Asperger's: unwavering fascination with a single topic to the point of obsession, inability to acknowledge contradictory views, inability to grasp pretty obvious jokes (directed at him) by other thread posters.
I am not sure if those who are "in" on the joke realize that he has this type of condition, so I think it is mean for them to give him false hope by posing as a film producer.
