While it's not the
gorgeous, golden special edition DS Lite of various rumors, what we have above is still
a special edition Lite, and that makes it
better than nothing. The emblazoned edition popped up on Nindie.com with no price and a placeholder release date of December 31. Could there be two editions this year, or could this one be specific to Europe? We can't wait to see how this plays out -- but if any game deserves numerous special editions, it's
Phantom Hourglass.

This...erm, decal? (is there a different word when it's permanently affixed to the DS?) is kind of unattractive in my opinion. It could do without the Phantom Hourglass logo, and, in my humble opinion, the cartoonish character designs (those from WW, FSA, MC, and PH) look a bit ugly when translated to black and white.
They still have their infinitely superior boxart to be happy about, though.

I Looooooove the Phantom Hourglass/Windwaker art style
not necessarily "better" than the realistic style, but god is it good

I really love the Windwaker/Phantom Hourglass art style, too.
But there's just something about that promotional shot with Link running and holding the map that I find akward. I can't tell, something just seems wrong with it. That's not to say I wouldn't pick this up if it became availabe.

Damn... I was really hanging in for the gold one. Woulda been the first time I'd bought the same system twice (crazy for a Nintendo fan huh? :P ) Ah well thats still kinda pretty, I'll hold onto my cash tho. There has to be a really cool special edition DS at some point in its lifetime.
