Koji Igarashi, the producer of the Castlevania series, recently revealed this little tidbit to Wired's Game|Life. Igarashi stated, "First, we're doing another Nintendo DS version. There hasn't been an official announcement, but we're doing it."
Well, that's about as official as an unofficial announcement can get, so you can take your grains of salt elsewhere. We may have been expecting Castlevania's return to the DS, but we're relieved to hear it nonetheless.

The way he's worded it in various interviews, I think it's possible he may be talking about a DS port of the PSP game.

Welcome news. A port would be amazing since it would keep me from getting a PSP to play it (although a new game would be nice too...).

The psp game had Symphony of the Night on it too, if I'm not mistaken. It's worth buying for that alone. Port it.

I'd rather have a new game. Symphony of the Night is readily available on XBL (already got it) so a new 'Vania would be prime. Go back to a big castle though. The portraits were fun but something was lost.

Oh great, now I need to spend another few hours of my life searching every inch of what's basically the same castle. Curse you, Castlevania, and your ever-addicting gameplay!
Seriously, I'm still working on finishing every last mode of Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. They really got just about everything right in that one. I can't wait to see what they can come up with for the next one. After all, each handheld Castlevania has shown improvements over the last.
Colour me excited.

Honestly, I would be more excited if they ported Dracula X from the PSP...
