We've all played or heard of The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. We all know that everyone who played it loved it. Let's move on. Wait ... what's that? Not everyone loved it? Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw, in fact, despised it?
Apparently so! But hating on a game is never as amusing as it is in The Escapist's "Zero Punctuation," so we don't mind. We found this review to be rather funny. If you don't feel like your poor heart can take it, though, feel free to watch some other reviews of Phantom Hourglass that involve girl cosplayers.
Warning: The audio in this video makes it NSFW. Oh, and there's some bad visual bits, too.
[Thanks, Brian!]

His analysis about sailing was totally wrong.
Sailing takes a lot less time now, the shooting is fun and there are warp points to make travel even faster, although sometimes the touch screen has trouble registering certain warp symbols.
But he was totally right about that stupid temple. Stealth sucks.

I loved PH, but man. Tracking down all the spirit orbs and ship parts was lame. It left me feeling like I hadn't finished the game, while at the same time feeling like I had no desire to go through and try to find the single stupid orb I missed along the way. oi.

I have to laugh every time someone mentions the Sea King's Temple as a problem. Actually do what the maps for, you know, taking decent notes, and you'll be fine. I never ran out of time once.
As for sailing, as has been mentioned, it is sped up greatly by the warp points, and the fact that all the charts are smaller means faster traveling to. Sailing is not an issue.
However the guy fully admits to not playing the game through. Saying he got tired of it. Isn't that what everyone says when they can't beat a game? Poor fellow, owned by a game which only major problem was the fact that it was dang easy. How embarrassing.

P.S. I scraped Z:PH in the very same place - when I got to return to the frigging dungeon XXXth time.

It's worth noting that there is also one very small part of the video that's NSFW. I mean, you wouldn't just watch the video without audio (since Yahtzee's commentary is easily the most important part), there is doodling on the map involving body parts that one shouldn't be exposing at the office, unless your office happens to be related to porn, in which case it's most likely commonplace.

I really dug the brief Okami reference at the end of the video (if anyone else caught it).

I didn't mind the stealth, the timer, or the need to go through rooms again
I just hated how all the rooms reset, requiring you to hit the same switches and get the same keys (although with more items it becomes easier and easier as time goes by)
I also loved Phantom Hourglass for bringing Bombchus back, easily the 2nd coolest Zelda item ever (after the hookshot/grappling family)

Yeah, that was pretty clever. Probably my favorite part of the review. Aside from the "Fuck. Right. Off." bit. That was damn funny.

as a note, there are NSFW bits of crudely drawn anatomy in this too, as well as written explitives, in case you want to include the warning for our headphone wearing friends.

And now there is a race for the name Fagballs on all websites, and Gaming Communities worldwide.
This of course will be hilarious and relevant for the next 12 seconds, but in a month's time will just be daunting, and somewhat excommunicative when attempts at the source of inspiration for the name are all met with the reply "Yeah. Okay, FAAAAAAAAGBAAAALLLLLLS."

I like the game, but I could easily understand how someone who doesn't enjoy the Zelda formula would be offput by it. I loved the control and the use of the maps to solve puzzles. However, the ship part collecting was soooo tedious. I sat there for hours playing that dumb target cannon game collecting ship parts. Also, as every other reviewer has stated, the dungeon with the Phantoms (Uuugh, so boring).
However, I, too, think the hassle of sailing is somewhat removed this time. Even traveling from one end of the entire map to the other without warps only took a few minutes total. It's not even comparable to Wind Waker's sailing bits in my mind. Plus, I liked being able to simply draw my path.
"We'd think they'd all gone raving mad. They'd be in drug rehab before Half-Life: Citrus Bazooka could even hit shelves."
I had to rewatch this part like four times. I was laughing so hard. Half-Life: Citrus Bazooka.

Honestly, I've grown tired of Ben Croshaw. I found him amusing for the first handful of videos of his I saw, but now his cynicism and seeming overall gaming disillusionment just wears me out when I watch. Now I imagine he's just a very sad, very lonely man. I hope I never reach a point where I'm that cynical and hardened about games.

I'm a big fan of this game, yet I am comfortable hearing some (probably overdue) criticism of it. That said, it's time to criticize the critic:
1) This guy is on amphetamine, apparently. The pacing of his speech made me want to do violence to him.
2) Bemoaning the lack of story in a video game is kind of a waste of time. Nintendo realizes that people seeking strong narrative don't look to Zelda so why can't this guy? Solution: Books, maybe?
3) The analogies and figurative language are entirely inappropriate for a review. "The sailing returns like a greasy sex offender returning to your room at night"? Yes, because logical cohesion should be disregarded for unrelated ranting.
Good sense of humor, though. Too bad this completely fails at being a convincing recommendation report.

He takes time in every review to also bash gays along with whatever game he's attacking. Thaaa-aanks.
Saying someting is 'go gay' can have a double meaning
but coming right out and dropping the 'f bomb' is different.
Not that I really care, it's just satire, but after several reviews in a row it makes me wonder if he has an axe to grind there. Or if he's gay.
But returning to the same in dungeon over and over is
annoying.
