Hmm... I definitely remember playing that stage, especially the spike-jump part, right after the boss, but I can't recall which stage it was.
Was it, by any chance, a Doc Robot stage from MM3?

It reminds me of Cutman's stage from the first Mega Man game...and the music reminds me of the intro stage in Mega Man ZX...

I concur with the first post...I seem to recall vaguely a boss stage in Megaman 3.
Woodman's stage has rabbits (with carrot missiles)and tigers (with U trajectory ball thingies). Flashman's stage is all blue for whatever reason that makes Rockman walk all slippery.
On a tangent, is it just me? Or Rockman 2 is really the most memorable Rockman game ever?

To unlock the third secret retro style stage, beat the regular ZX Advent mode on the hardest difficulty setting.
I enjoyed these extra stages a lot, as they offer basically everything that made the old Mega Man games fun.
A shame these elements aren't used anymore. Or rather, it's a shame that all characters became too mobile for this kind of stage design.
