We know that the Wii has the potential to be a fat-burning machine, but what about the DS? First there was yoga, then walking, and now ... gymnastics? That's right, folks. Japan will be seeing a game starring exercise celebrity Hiromichi Sato, aptly titled Hiromichi Oniichan no Oyako Taisou Navi. The game "encourages" kids and their parents to be active by showing them how to do different exercises.
We're pretty skeptical about exercise via DS being effective at all, but we suppose it's all a matter of motivation. Still, will children really be tricked into performing these exercises by thinking it's a game? Wouldn't kids prefer to join the baseball team or something?

How will this work?! do you have to keep the ds in your hands while your parents lift you up and everything?! It seems like yet another weird japanese idea..

I don't understand. Look at the DS for a shadow puppet, then mimic it? There has to be more to it, otherwise that's just pointless. Maybe it just yells commands at you like the walking navi. So weird.

Although, after thinking about it, if they made a home gym version of this game where it barked out what it wants you to do, rep times and sets the pace, that would be kinda fun. I'd probably give it a try. Definitely not at a public gym though, haha. I guess I could record my own voice and play it back for the same effect...but where's the fun in that?
