How is your DS holding up cosmetically? Does it still shine like the Dickens? Do people still react to its presence with a hushed awe? Has it acquired any scratches in its lifespan, either on the outer surfaces or the screens?
Right before we got the new Lite, the outer layer of the sticker on the back of our DS Phat spontaneously came off, taking some of the print off with it. Thus the unfortunate effect seen above. In terms of case and screen scratches, it's practically brand new, but that simple cosmetic effect seems to have aged the unit so much.

I hae had my light for about a year and a half now???......and it is always back in its case......i have never droppedit and i do not lone it to friends even if i am right there.....my brother the NES collector can use it because he understands (unlike me who accidentally dropped his copy of rad racer in the snow-sorry barrett).....there is only one small scratch that is arely noticeable on my ds and it is on the touchscreen from a combination of a Nintendo approved stylus and playing Elite Beat agents "the last hope" on hard rock......oh yeah i beat it so the unnoticeable scratch was probably worth it......ok no it wasnt.......but as for my phat......when i first got it i would just put it in my pocket unprotected (stupid me) then i wised up

My DS Lite unfortunately suffered from the mysterious hinge crack. It's also got this weird problem where the serial number on the back came off, probably because it's right where my fingers rest at; I ended up using a piece of clear scotch tape to hold the serial number sticker on.
Other than that, just the usual screen dust and such.

I've had my DS Phat for 2 or 3 years, and it is still in excellent condition. Both screens are nearly scratch free, and the case shows only a little bit of wear on one of the corners. I am obviously very careful with it. (My Treo 650, on the other hand, is only a little over a year old and looks like it has been through a war...)
The only thing that is significantly wrong with my DS is the serial number--it has completely worn off!

My Black and Red DS Lite is in perfect condition. Except for the scratches on the touch screen (I have screen protectors), it is in its glossy, out-of-the-box form. When I was playing it the other day, my friend knocked it out of my hands and it fell to the ground (luckily it had a case), but nothing broke. Another funny time when I dropped my DS Lite was when it was charging, and I forgot it was connected to the outlet. I pulled my DS Lite in a hurry because I was fixing to go shopping, and the DS Lite pulled back and landed on the floor. It still had the same case as it did the other day. Those were the only times I have dropped my DS Lite.

My Lite is in good condition. My Phat however... Well it's missing its stylus, has a couple scratches on the touchscreen, the edges look faded from their gray, and the back sticker is peeling and can no longer see the serial number.

My Nintendo Ds lite has held up pretty good. I've had it for about a year now, theres some scratches on the bottom screen and on the inside white part (i have no idea how it got there and it drives me crazy). Also sometimes when i use the stylus and press down a little the screen moves. That might have happend when i dropped it because my cat puked on my bed(eww).

I still use my DS Phat, and it looks identical to the one pictured. It also has some wear and tear around the left hinge. Other than those, not a single thing wrong.

I still have my launch day original DS. It's still in excellent condition. There is only one problem, though, I have difficulty with my L button. Cosmetically, I only have a few scratches on the body, and one hairline scratch on the touch screen. It's seen coutless hours of playtime, so I can say that all in all, it's still going strong.

My DS Lite looks almost as good as new, but my launch-day silver DS had a problem with the touchscreen and had to be exchanged (luckily, I exchanged it at apparently the one EB Games that had units to give me) and my Wii stopped reading discs a week and a half before its warranty ran out (just hoping to get it back from Nintendo before I leave for Thanksgiving.)
So, I'm immensely satisfied with my DS Lite, but it looks like the first units from a given generation of Nintendo hardware might have their share of problems.

The paint has worn off the very edges of the angled top of my DS Phat showing white where silver used to be. Other than that, it's held up fine.

My launch-week DS Phat is still in GREAT condition. The screens look fine, no scratches, the case is still in perfect condition, except for a few tiny scrapes near the back right hinge. Label on back is perfect, buttons all still click nicely. There is some residue from the screen protector I had on the top screen still there (ugh!), but other than that, it looks as good as the day I bought it!
It may not be the prettiest or most compact system, but it sure as hell is the sturdiest!!!

My phat is still in pretty good condition for being 3 years old, besides a little dented circle where the ACWW continue speaking arrow thing is and also the serial number sticker just completely white from my fingers resting on it.

My DS phat no longer has a serial sticker on the bottom, the screen is scratched, there are a few gouges in the plastic, and the paint has worn off on all the corners has faded to plastic.
Other than that, it still works, and I think is in about the right shape for a 3 year old piece of well used portable gaming goodness.

My DS lite is good. I got it in white to match my upcoming Wii. My mother's (which I bought as a birthday present) stylus holder is too loose to store in properly but I thought it was too much a hassle to return it (it was just wear and tear). I'm always, always worried about scratching the touch screen on some kind of games (even with screen protectors) but everything is in good order so far.

I've had my DS Lite for awile, and not too long after I got it, I got a nice clear armor case for it. It holds a stylus and three games, and is very handy. The DS itself is almost mind condition, except for fingerprints of course.

I guess that serial number sticker coming off must be common. My electric blue Phat's case is worn on the edges. But you know what? It just gives it character. It's been loved.

My ds lite is still shining but has some cracks in it. There is also the problem that my ds has somehow gotten crud stuck in the edges of it.

My (mom's) DS Phat is not at its best shape: the back label is just like the picture and combination Magnetica + Elite Beat Agents marked the touch screen badly - for some reason, I can't stand screen protectors.
My DS Lite is almost good as new, only a few scratches on its surface (and of course, the fingerprints, but they can be easily wiped off).
