We will agree that choosing between the DS and PSP is a lot easier than choosing between the current generation of consoles, however. In terms of price, it's a smaller commitment and it's easier to decide between two, rather than three. But one thing the DS has (like its console cousin, the Wii) is an appeal to people of all ages and all walks of life.
What are some other things you love about the DS? Why do you think it's better than the PSP (we have a feeling you're going to say "the games")? Or, don't you, and you're merely reading DSF to learn more about your enemy for the impending battle between fanboy armies?

"Let's not forget that the PSP's best games keep getting ported to PS2."
.. is the stupidest thing ever said on this thread.
Do you even own a DS? B/c last time I checked Cooking Mama, Mario Bros., Chibi Robo, etc. Was on a Gamecube or a Wii. Heck, now even Mario party is on the DS.
I bet, you don't own a real console; why don't you buy a real system and stop playing with the free "Nintendo labeled" games the came free in your cereal box.

Great PSP Games:
Medal Of Honor Heroes 1 And 2
Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow
Burnout Legends And Dominator
Madden (Every Version)
Ratchet And Clank Size Matters
Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Lemmings
Final Fantasy 1 Anniversary Edition
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories And Vice City
And those are to mention a few...
I have a DS and a PSP, PSP games are better.
I homebrew with my DS mostly, but haven't picked it up
in months. I own only 2 DS games, Mario Kart and
New Super Mario Bros. I only like one other DS game
that I don't own, and that's advanced wars. I've tried other
games like Zelda and Metroid, but they're no fun.

Common ... I thaught that all normal person knows that neither is batter than the other . The PSP is more expensive , its has less games for the younger audience , and its just a to complex machine for many kids . On the other hand , as someone who had allready passed the 18 years , I say that the PSP has a batter gamelineup for me . And no , I dont only mean M games ( Wipeout , Burnout , Silent Hill , Daxter , Ratchet , Syphonfilter , LocoRoco , GTA , FFCC , Pursuit Force , Metal Gear Solid PO etc. ) .
In the same time the DS is cheaper , simpler , and it has a much more apealing software lineup for the younger crowd ( Mario , Pokemon , Brain Training games and other non-games , Kirby , party games etc. ) . That doesnt means that it has a weak lineup ... contary , but for me there are ~5 games on the DS that have any apeal to me ( Metroid , Zelda , Resident Evil , FF3 , NSMB ) while the PSP has at least 25 games that I want ( I have at this point over 40 games for it , and Im trading/buying all the time ) .
The PSP is selling well to , batter than huge hits like the SNES , N64 , Sega Genesis , Xbox etc . , just that its not selling as good as the DS . The DS is a new Ipod ... its slick , it has great apeal for many and its at an affordable price . Its now the fastest selling console of all time , and seeing that the PSP holds ~1/3 out of the handheld market with a huge rival as the DS is not something small :)

Since this article is about flamming the PSP, ("How we love your misinformed nature and incredible ability to point out the obvious." "We will agree that choosing between the DS and PSP is a lot easier than choosing between the current generation of consoles," "Why do you think it's better than the PSP (we have a feeling you're going to say "the games")? ")
I've got stuff to say about the DS. Which by all means seems fair judging how the writer ignorantly, unpretentiously, and scornfully mocked the PSP.
I have a DS and I try really hard to not scratch the touch screen but games like Zelda, make that impossible. The hinges are a problem, my friend's DS broke that way. It hurts your hands to play games like 007, because of the crappy control scheme. The DS lite, (which is what I have) is just a magnet for fingerprints, you can't keep it clean! And for online games, you have to be really close to the hotspot to play the game, as opposed to some games on PSP. (Ex. Medal of Honor Heroes 1 - You can run online at 50% with no lag!) And tons of games are ported onto the DS too, not just the PSP. (Ex. Super Mario 64 DS, 007 Rogue Agent, etc.) And anyone who says the PSP doesn't have great games obviously is an ignorant "Place your own expletive here." You obviously haven't invested the time in finding great games, or haven't even touched a PSP. (Am i getting warmer, to describing Ignorant DS fans?) Well, I'm sick of spelling it out to you DS fans, and I'm tired of running with a vain cause. DS fans will always be ignorant.

instead of trying to insult my typing mistakes, like a young ds fan that you so obviously are, try a psp and feel what its like to play a ps2 on a handheld instead of a touch screen snes.

I have actually got a PSP, and I absolutely love GTA: Vice City Stories, but to be honest, there are not really any other PSP games that I want to get (other than maybe Castlevania). However, with the DS, at least one game comes out every month that I really want.
I am not trying to say that the DS is better than the PSP based simply upon my personal opinion, but I like the DS because Nintendo (and other DS game makers) are trying to make games that are the best possible fit for hand held gaming, while the PSP seems to be simply trying to emulate the PS2 in every way,
With the DS, Nintendo's ultimate goal is creating the best possible games for the portable gaming experience. This means that some of the games can be even better than actual home console games.
But with the PSP, Sony's ultimate goal is to attempt to squeeze home console games into a portable system. This means that the PSP's games will always b in the shadow of their home console counterparts, which will, in the end, always be better.
I haven't explained that very well, because as you say, I'm just a "young ds fan", but I hope you understand my point. Feel free to point out any spelling and/or grammar mistakes that I have made. :)

I love my DS...
I use my GnM card to listen to music on the way to work in the morning.
Thanks to DSOrganize, it becomes my PDA for the workday.
When I get home I use it to read my email, check some blogs and do a couple of crosswords.
Then when I want to unwind... oh, that's right... it plays games, too!
Love it. Love it. If it broke, I'd buy a replacement in a second!

PSP has some good games.
But DS has *piles* of great games.
And most importantly: DS has Tetris. That was decisive factor to me.

Uhm... OK. I'll point another dubious advantage of DS.
DS has M3 Simply and R4 Revolution.
Before carrying around even few games was a problem: game case takes extra place in pocket. Now with R4 I carry all my games conveniently stored on microSD card - all the time. In the morning I can start with Tetris and Zookeeper to warm up my brain. After work - something like Luminous Arc and DQM:J. And no problem fitting all that into one pocket ;)
It is also great tool to preview games before buying them. With R4 I manage to pick up games on sales in shops on cheap. I discovered bunch of great old games from DS Phat launch which I have completely missed since I have bought DS Lite and bought it quite late.
My friends with PSP are pretty jealous. In part because I can play pirated games. In part because I managed to find even bigger piles of great games for DS. And believe me: interesting games outweigh all technical advantages of PSP.
And. Last but not least - www.dsdoom.com ^_^
Enjoy!

My Game Boy also has Tetris, it's unfortunate that I can't play it on my DS. -____-
In regard to sales, the DS is the fastest selling console produced. It's definitely the PS2 of the seventh generation. But if you look at the PSP, it's sold nearly thirty million units in just under three years. The GameCube sold twenty-two million units in six years, the X-Box twenty-four million in nearly that same time span. The PSP has superseded both of those consoles by a very good margin in only half the time. Hell, the PSP is selling much much faster than the PS3 which happens to be selling a bit faster than the PS1 was (and the PS1 eventually broke the one hundred million unit point). The PSP is by no means an underdog, it only suffers because some people still adhere to the outdated mindset that the PSP has no games when in fact it's done extraordinarily well. The only handheld to have truly rivaled any Nintendo handheld before the PSP was the WonderSwan series (which was funnily enough started by the developer of the Game Boy). The WonderSwan consoles were only released in Japan and only nagged around ten percent of the Japanese market. It's no secret that Nintendo has obliterated all other competition in this regard (including the Sega Game Gear which most younger gamers nowadays haven't even heard of). I think that the PSP having around one third of the global handheld market is an incredible feat and it shows that many gamers and developers see the system as having value even when compared to Nintendo's equivalent. To put it simply, the PSP is not a piece of crap and many people have recognized that despite the Nintendo followers who refuse to do anything more than recognize its existence.
Both consoles have worthy games available. I bought my DS at launch and I still love it (I was actually just playing it an hour ago because I'm procrastinating on my college applications). I bought my PSP quite a bit later but I love it just the same. Both purchases were entirely worth it. I'm not trying to discredit the DS or Nintendo in any sense, I have seventy-seven games for Nintendo systems, but to suggest that the PSP isn't a worthy contender is a complete lie.
My PSP also charges nearly three times faster then my DS, although I don't know how fast the DS Lite takes to fill up its battery.

Does your DS play NES, SNES, N64, PS1, or GB games? Don't bother going into illegal exploits of the systems because the PSP is capable of so much more in that regard.

And it just occurred to me: why is David Hinkle trolling? You don't see this kind of post on PSPFanboy, nor any DS bashing. The DS and PSP are both good consoles, do you really feel so insecure you need to be the Ann Coulter of portable systems? Meanwhile we have other bloggers actually posting useful things, like a diary learning French on the DS. This isn't content, it's (-1 Flamebait). Be glad I'm not a mod for this blog.
Hell, my Wii has a smaller game library and inferior hardware to my Xbox 360, but I still like it. At some point all the e-peen comparisons just don't matter-- it's a question of if something is fun in and of itself.
btw, for those of you complaining about wrist/hand pain with the DS-- try a Papermate PhD Multi, which is incredibly comfortable to hold and includes a stylus tip. I've used with both my DS and Tablet PC with great results.

I like them both too. Even if i did sell my PSP the slim does seem pretty interesting, the tv output feature seems cool and dont forget PSP has got some pretty amazing games to including Daxter, Burnout Legends(the DS version sucked), Loco Roco, Death Jr 1 and 2, Rachet and Clank, Crush, Metal Gear Solid: portable ops, GTA LCS, GTA VCS, Jeanne D'Arc and Loco Roco
ontop of that two more great games i know are going to be released are a custom version of Kingdom Hearts(DS has another one), God of War and of coarse Final fantasy Chrises Core.
It just annoys me that there are all these people trying to say the psp has no games when it clearly does, i am not a fanboy of psp or ds
Can i just ask out of intrest how many people actually like the Dual screen feature and would prefere it over a larger higher resolution widescreen display like the PSP(obviosly including touchscreen)

It's funny how ppl keep posting lists of games when games are truly based on preference. One might like Zelda and the other may not b/c they probably like Hannah Montana. hehe
But in conclusion both systems are based on preference. I prefer the PSP's games but I'm playing my DS more right now b/c of Zelda and Jump Ultimate. By which are games that "I, myself like." And also another thing, obviously there will be more DS lovers in this thread since it is a "DS" Fanboy site. So PSP fanboys, shut it and go back to PSP Fanboys site and flame there about the DS.
