Some of them are a bit lengthy, but it's worth at least checking out the finished products. More LED videos after the break, just be sure not to invite any Boston police.

Yep, it was a marketing campaign for Aqua Teen Hunger Force gone awry. Check out the Wikipedia link in the post (where is says "bomb scares in Boston") to understand the connection.

i dont think it was even marketing, i just remember 2 guys talking about their hair, because their lawyer told them not to talk about the pictures.

I wish I had the resources, skill, and knowlege on how to make these kinds of things... I took an electronics class in high school and am pretty decent at soldering but I don't know how to do anything very in-depth. :(
Here is a website that shows how to make your own Mooninite signs. Even has an animated finger. :)

I like how the clock on the turnip one is just there to show everyone that he wasted an entire day assembling it. Nifty, but worth 7 hours? I'm going to have to go with a "no" on this one.

Wow, that looks really complicated and not satisfying at all. What he did was basically take hour upon hours to make something that could have been done on a lightbright in about thirty seconds. Congratulations guy, you have no life.

That's basically like saying "Why spend hours painting a landscape when you could take a picture in seconds".
Most hobbies are similar to that -- the end result is not the reasoning behind it as much as the experience of actually doing it. Plus you earn bragging rights...
"Dude, check this out. Yeah, I made it. I'm awesome, I know".
