Copyright law prevents us from sharing the whole article with you, but a kind NeoGAFfer has summarized the important details of the game in a bulleted list, which we have reproduced after the break. We're just going to take a minute to recover from the shock of the game looking and sounding actually kinda neat. "Elite Beat Agents- style special attacks?" That's awesome!
Oh, Rouge the Bat and Big the Cat are going to be in it. Okay, we're over our shock.
-Cover Story with nice artwork
-In game graphics have a water color look, all hand drawn
-4 party members at a time
-Each character can do certain things ex: Tails can float over things (standard stuff)
-11 party members total - 7 known are Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Rouge, Shadow, Big the Cat
-Control done fully with stylus - think Hourglass
-Able to split party into teams at certain moments
-Rings are used as currency
-No random battles, see enemies on the field
-Turn based battles, choose commands for everyone in your party before they actually follow through. Want battles to be fast paced
-Elite Beat Agents style special attacks
-Team attacks (like Chrono Trigger)
-"Fatigue Points" instead of MP
-Choose which attributes to increase when you level up
-Purchase and level special attacks
-Bits of story - Sonic's on vacation from defeating Eggman 2 years ago. Gets a call from Tails that Knuckles has been kidnapped by a group called the Marauders, and that 6 chaos emeralds are missing. Eggman not the main villain. But Bioware wants to make him a creditable bad guy again. Something about a "twist" between Eggman and Sonic that goes back to the earlier games.
-2 acts - first takes place in standard Sonic areas. 2nd takes place in a darker world
-Remixed classic tunes
-"fully animated cut scenes"
-simple dialogue trees
-Side quests

Sounds pretty awesome. By the sound of the title, I hope the plot will be much darker than normal Sonic storylines. Something like the comics or the old SatAM cartoon. The graphics sound like they'll be pretty awesome. Have they released any screenshots yet?

I hate the fact that it's stylus exclusive. I'm really getting tired of that. =/ Especially since it's an RPG. Grr...Final Fantasy II was able to incorporate both styles of play, why not this one? =?

So its that simple, while sonic is on vacation bowser jr pretends to be nights and paints buildings using the power of the chaos emeralds. eggman is actually bowser and sonic then turns into mario... rpg: a sonic blast from the past.

Screw Sonic. I'm more interested in seeing those Star Wars: Force Unleashed shots. These would be the first Wii shots shown if I'm not mistaken.

I think ALL stylus is a great idea. My sister is playing Phantom Hourglass all the way through and loves it because she can do the controls. I've tried to get her into Zelda and games forever. I'm not against having both for those who prefer...but having all stylus as the main method is the way to go.

I've never enjoyed a Sonic game, and don't plan on doing so any time soon. Only game I'll enjoy that he's in is Brawl, just so I can whup his ass with Mario and co.

Well, ever since Sonic Adventure 2,
Sonic has been going downhill at a very fast rate.
I think the only good Sonic game after that (not including the 2 remakes on the gc) was Sonic Rush.
Now if they can just get rid of the 4kids look, and make the storyline a little more mature, maybe make a main character or two die a very saddening death (take Lavitz's death in Legend of Dragoon, for example), there's a good Sonic game.
I'm tired of only massacring robots.

I have faith that Bioware can restore my love for Sonic, at least for this one game. This is the only Sonic game I've paid any attention to since Sonic Adventure DX (or arguably Sonic Gems Collection, since it had Sonic CD, Sonic R, and Sonic the Fighters. The missing Chaotix makes me seeth, though.), and even then Sonic Adventure was really always a few good ideas and several more steps back IMO.
I'll always like Sonic. Maybe not any of the new games, but after the 16-Bit games, it's really, really hard not to like Sonic, and I'll be enjoying his presence in SSBB. I've also got my eye on this game, being a fan of Bioware, as well as a fan of Sonic who is personally glad that Sega or one of their divisions isn't responsible for this game's development.
