DS Daily: Corruptions, bugs, and glitches

Recently, this blogger had the displeasure of losing all her data in Geometry Wars: Galaxies. One minute we were best buddies, inseparable and joined at the hip; in just an instant, however, the save data became corrupt and everything was lost. All unlocked galaxies and drone level-ups were gone, along with high scores and gold medals. Instead of starting over, Geometry Wars has remained untouched ever since.

Have you ever lost your data in a DS game? And if you haven't faced corruptions, have you played any games that had bugs or glitches that made you want to stop playing? Even better, have you experienced any funny glitches in your games?

Or, has your time on the DS managed to be bug and problem free? If so, we envy you!

After unlocking everything possible in Meteos, I still picked it up and played it fairly regularly. Then I got the "corrupt file" error and it was back to square zero. Barely played it since. it's surprisingly demoralizing.

My only 'glitch' came when I let this stupid kid play my puzzle quest. It came back with two level one characters.

Candace, I had the same thing happen in Geometry Wars. I think I turned it off or put it in sleep mode during saving. So brutal...my poor drones, gone....

Sniff ... I feel your pain :(. I was really loving the game, too. Such a shame. I'm sure I'll go back to it one day.

The main I've experienced on the DS is with my Jump Ultimate Stars Cartridge. The cart's memory must be busted because I can't save the game. It claims it has but every time I restart the game, it says the save file was corrupted, and it creates a new file. The main reason I bought it was because play-asia was having a sale on it. I've considered returning it but I would have to pay for shipping, and shipping a DS game to hong-kong would not be cheap. So now I have a fairly useless Jump Ultimate Stars cart sitting on my shelf. That was the first and probably last time I'll ever import a game :/

The glitchiest game I've got is Contra 4.
Every now and then when the screen fades out (lost life, continue, new level, etc) it just stays black. No input works, the music is the only thing that keeps working.

Need reboot the DS for it to work again.

Doesn't happen too often, but it's a real pain when it happens late in the game when you still had your powered up shotgun and homing missiles...

Custom Robo Arena. I played a local multi-player match with someone, then played them online. All of a sudden my friend list was corrupted forever, always freezing when I tried to view it. Made online less convenient.

Well, I've had a lot of glitches in the past, which is why im shit scared of them now. xD
But, I think the worst possible glitch ive experienced, was in Jump Ultimate Stars, which I downloaded to my R4DS (Yeah I know im naughty ._.).
I started a fight on the One Piece stage, and took one step with my character, who then randomly warped out of the stage boundaries and into a black screen, and the game locked. Ever since that, I had to delete the ROM and settle for the partially translated one (god bless Deufeufeu). :D
My friend had one where he was playing Pokemon Diamond, and he was at the Elite Four. He tried to use a Full Restore, but it "missed."
Wtf? :S

Same thing happened to my copy of Geometry Wars. Trend? Of course, after seeing the video of the guy who scored 5 billion, I realized that the data I lost was pretty pathetic.

I've had 2 gba games do the unsavable data thing. one was not a biggie.. super mario advance 2: super mario world. a. it was not a great port, and b. I usually finished the 96 levels in 1 sitting anyway. There was one other game but I loaned my gba games to some guy and never got them back, but what can you do.

On the other hand Harvest Moon DS has been the plague of glitches. I've read all about them ahead of time So I wasn't worried about some things, and frequently backed up my save (which dind't always back up right but again you can't win em all), I've had the gold thing reset to 9999999999 whatever,

I've had van attempt to buy goods that aren't salable such as farming tools, and not being able to sleep at night without game freezing. At the same time though I loved the game for all the great bugs you can exploit, such as getting cows and brushing them then switching to the sheers and getting level 19 wool off of them somehow, then turning it into yarn and selling it for 60 grand to van, or canning it.

The only thing I don't like about the game is the fact that rune factory came out and it's just like all the other harvest moon games but you can simply play it without some huge tutorial telling you where random stuff is buried and whatnot, and it has objectives and a killer opening track. Rune Factory 2 will be even better and have another crazy opening movie with an even better track.

As for math book of doom wars, that's one game that is simply insane, hard to keep up with, that is a simple way to say "punish me" in a game. All rhythm games are the same way, cept you can actually master those... geowwvi is someting I could never master.

To the people who have been rewarded with 1billionG on harvest moon DS, the way to avoid it is to NEVER HIRE THE FISHING TEAM IN WINTER. Do I make myself clear to everybody? Good. Personally I don't see anything wrong with this glitch. Without it I wouldn't have an Island or most of my Harvest Sprites.
The only glitch I am really annoyed with is one that permanently freezes your game (I have the EU version so I'm not sure what happens with the other two). It has happened to me twice. If you are married and you save your game in the mines, turn your Nintendo DS off then go to reload tour save, the game will freeze and you will have to start a new game from scratch. It will NOT affect your other game slot.

I still haven't gone back to the game, and the fact that you lost your save data twice scares me. I really love it, but it's too demoralizing to lose your data like that and have to begin anew.
