New blue DS Lite confirmed [update]

Rumors surfaced earlier this month that a cobalt blue DS Lite might be in the works, and now a page at Circuit City has popped up confirming the new model. It's not quite as we expected, however; the new model is blue and black, much like the crimson and black Lite that got our blood boiling last year.

Thoughts on the new color combo? If you're willing to shell out the cash for a new Lite, we want to know. It's a bit darker than we expected, put part of that is surely the reflection of the black backing. Overall, we're pleased.

[Update: The Circuit City page has been removed.]

Ooooo I'm not much for the color blue usually but I *LIKE* this combo! If this was available when I bought the crimson and black, er onyx, which was ostensibly for the hubby, I would have probably gotten this instead simply because he likes blue. But then I'd STILL want the crimson and black I suppose ;)

I like the blue color.

I have the Cobalt DS Phat and yeah it is fairly dark. I never liked the look of the Crimson/Black and the Cobalt/Black kinda sucks too.

I've been meaning to get a DS Lite for some time now, but now I have to decide between pure Onyx or Cobalt/Onyx. The only reason I wouldn't pick the Cobalt is because of the half & half colors.

Looks like a swankier version of my enamel blue Lite (but perhaps not so easily confused with onyx), so I definitely like. Would still prefer a crimson/black one if I had to get a new Lite, though. I think silver/black or pink/black could easily beat this blue/black combo...

Yup,

I totally agree. I never considered anything else (except for the "Zelda" package one). I think the crimson/cobalt and black combinations lack that clean, stylized look that the white has. Heck--even the onyx has it! But, as is evident by these comments, there are people who like these combo ones.

Whatever--Nintendo has been making better and better looking systems lately. Yay!

I should be completely drooling over this, but the black throws it off. What's with the combination color schemes anyways? The red/black was nice, but a plain red (or a plain blue!) would be so much better.

I would willing pay an extra $40 or so for the enamel navy DSL import.

It disappoints me when Nintendo can make DSL into shades of red and blue while totally neglecting green or orange.

Agree'd. Green is my favorite color... If Nintendo released a bright, obnoxious neon green DS... I'd definitely consider selling my gold Zelda one to get it...

I was going to buy a blue DS Lite, but it was about $30 more., since it was Japanese.
