When it comes to art, we're no experts. Still, that doesn't stop us from enjoying Jimi Benedict's surrealist pieces, which portray some of our favorite video game characters in ways we've never seen them before. Even some of his works that aren't video game related are 8-bit inspired, like his portrait of U.S. Democratic presidential candidate, Barack Obama.Check after the break to see the full Mario portrait (the picture to the right is just a tease!), and a Zelda one as well (featuring Link).

They are pretty cool, and definitely painted/rendered nicely, but theres still an aspect of creepyness to them that is a bit unsettling, esp Link's face.

He's not melting, the illustrator just fit his face into the "pixels" of the original sprite graphic, how Nintendo intended his anatomy to be.

The title is incorrect, it should say: Mario and Link get surreal.
